Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

So sorry to hear, what a true warrior RIP Steve xx

But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Now that is really very sad news.I'm sure the whole rugby community both League and Union will be saddened by his loss to both the game and as a gentleman.

Incredibly sad news but testimony to the man that he beats the dreadful disease for so long whilst leaving a lasting legacy, an indelible footprint on the sport of RL.

Travesty that he was never awarded a knighthood, not sure if they can be awarded posthumously but they should be. An award in his name/honour is the very least that the RL community should induct.

I hope they have a minutes silence today to show our respects to Steve.

It is a fitting stadium for a true RL great.

Rugby League mourns Steve Prescott MBE

The RFL has sent its condolences to the family of Steve Prescott MBE, who has died after a long illness.

Steve, who was capped by both England and Ireland at international level and had successful spells with St Helens and Hull FC, passed away in hospital earlier today. He was 39.

RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood said: "It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the death of Steve Prescott. Our thoughts are with his family at this terribly sad time.

"The word 'hero' is overused in sport but Steve was just that: a role model for every young Rugby League player during his distinguished playing career and an absolute inspiration to all of us off the field.

"Throughout his long illness Steve was never anything other than dignified, noble and brave, not least during his fantastic charity work through the Steve Prescott Foundation which raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for good causes, including the Rugby League Benevolent Fund.

"Steve touched on the lives of a great many people and enriched both Rugby League and the whole of sport with his engaging personality, unselfish efforts and his stoicism in the face of such an aggressive and cruel illness.

“We are all very fortunate to have been associated with Steve. He is going to be much missed.”

Absolutely devastated to hear this news. The man was an aspiration and a true fighter. I admire the way he tackled his illness and refused to let it dictate his life.

A very sad day for Rugby League. I really hope there's a minute's silence before the game today.

"But look at, look at Lydon go here...Remniscent of those two great tries when he won the Lance Todd... He's got Hanley inside him. He's going all the way..........."
