Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Mickey Paea face RFL charge

Post by josie andrews »

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook could be banned for up to three matches after being charged with dangerous contact following an incident during the recent Super League clash between St Helens and Catalan Dragons.

The Saints prop clashed with ex-Saints man Leon Pryce in Friday evening's game and, if found guilty at a disciplinary meeting on Tuesday, will be sidelined for two or three matches.

The RFL's disciplinary panel describe the challenge as: "Grip around the head/neck area is maintained and as attacking player is taken to the ground pressure is applied for a significant period of time. Defenders have a responsibility to avoid contact of this nature.

"Not deliberate but player uses a dangerous technique to keep the attacking player at a disadvantage."

Possible ban

Also facing a possible ban is Hull FC's Mickey Paea.

The prop has been handed a Grade B charge for allegedly making dangerous contact with Richard Owen of Castleford Tigers.

Paea's suspension, if guilty, would be either one or two games.

And a ban would make Hull's front row crisis worse as Liam Watts is the only other fit prop available for selection against Widnes this weekend.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Let's just see if there is continuity of punishment with the disciplinary committee :exc: :exc:

It will be interesting to see how Saints fare with LMS banned and Walsh Walmsley Turner and Soliola injured!
