So when is his contract actually up? Anyone got a link? I cant find anything except speculation that he would extend further.

Cmon Wane, dont you want to reunite with Tomkins at the NZWarriors ;)
NOOOOOOOOOOO :exc: :exc:
hehe cmon i thought Wane wanted to test himself in the NRL, plus we have lots of brown paper bags with lots of $$$ ;)

For the sake of ESL and Intl League i hope that Wane stays, but for the sake of the NZ Warriors i hope he is tempted to switch over. Ideally we get Wayne Bennett or someone of his ilk as replacement. Anything less than that will be disaster all over again.

I've been watching his games and there's certainly room for improvement but he does look like he is starting to settle in albeit slowly. We have the same problem over here with fans giving new players stick when they first arrive and you only need to think of the likes of Craig Smith, Pat Richards and at the moment Matty Bowen among a cast of plenty to see what happens when someone new arrives it isn't always easy to slot in straight away and Sam Tomkins is no different in that respect
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

If the rumours are anything to go by, Nathan Brown is also in the frame and he'd join the NRL in a heartbeat!

NOOO! How about you guys take Nathan Brown (we will thrown in Feleti Mateo and Dane Nielsen as compensation), and we get Shaun Wane? #FairDeal ;)

The latest news here is reporting interest in Roosters assistant coach according to my local radio station .... sorry can't find a link to it :conf:

Please stay with Wigan Shaun and build a legacy there ... for all the 'glamour' percieved with living here it still rains (very heavily) and it can be far too humid .... it is expensive to live here - plus your kids are better off in the UK school system!

In the "NZ Herald" paper (07/04) that Elliott has resigned, probably in anticipation of being sacked, and that the Asst. Coach, Andrew McFadden, will take over as Head Coach until the end of the 2014 season.

It also quotes that despite NZ Warriors speculation over Wane, they are not signing him.

Hopefully that clears the air for him to continue, at least for all of this season, without any more distractions.

All the above confirmed on tv and radio news here ...

From TVNZ website

Matthew Elliott has resigned as Warriors coach.

Assistant coach Andrew McFadden has been appointed acting head coach to the end of the 2014 NRL season.

In a short statement, the club said Elliott offered his resignation just five games into the season following their 37-6 loss to Cronulla in Sydney on Sunday.

It was their third loss, continuing a modest start to the campaign which hasn't matched pre-season expectations.

Media speculation had mounted that the club had initiated the move to part ways with Elliott early in his second season.

However, Warriors chairman Bill Wavish says the experienced Australian had made the decision.

"I have learned a lot from Matt and am saddened that he has made this decision," Wavish said.

"It speaks volumes of his character and integrity and I personally wish him well."

Chief executive Wayne Scurrah said promoting McFadden, a recent appointment as assistant coach of the Kiwis, made sense.

"Andrew is widely recognised as a leader of the next generation of coaches in the very competitive NRL competition."

McFadden was also a former assistant under Elliott at the Canberra Raiders.

Elliott posted a message on his Instagram account less than an hour before the club's announcement.

"Supporting a Club is never about individuals, It's about the guys who pull the jersey on & put their bodies on the line," he wrote.

"Real fans show up in droves when times are tough. It not only inspires the players it holds them accountable."

It followed a similarly philosophical message late on Sunday in which he said life is not about agreeing with decisions but dealing with, and making the most of them.

A former coach at English club Bradford and NRL outfits Penrith and Canberra, Elliott joined the Warriors at the start of last year to replace Brian McClennan.

The 49-year-old guided the Warriors to 11th place in 2013, winning 11 of 24 games.

After a bright pre-season campaign, they lost their two opening matches heavily last month - 36-16 to Parramatta and 31-12 to St George Illawarra before bouncing back to beat North Queensland and Wests Tigers.

A press conference has been called for 1pm in Auckland involving McFadden, senior management and some players.
