Sarge has had a couple of shaky games. I think thornley defensively is the most solid, probably lacks the go forward of the other two. Gelling has earnt his place but if i were Wane i would be seriously working on red zone plays with him as i say in a big game against a better team they cost points

Well said Bertina. :D

Agreed. The exciting thing for me is the lads size at centre. The way he ploughs up the centre channel is a sight to behold. I align myself with TBW's comments. 1985's comments are valid I just think the timing of his post was unfortunate. After last weeks debackle we're all jubilant.Don't pour cold water on it :D

I think he's the big centre we've been lacking in the last few seasons, as for his offload mistakes they were done when the game was fairly safe and I'm sure Waney will drum into him the importance of not taking risks in tight games and also going behind the sticks (although he can be forgiven this seeing it was his 1st hat-trick), I genuinely believe we now have a centre that scares the opposition

How do you know who can do it in big games when there are no big games till the play offs? So how do you decide your best side? Wish we were at Wembley!!!!
3 years, are you having a brain fart.
Goulding has been a regular decent performer upto this season which has sadly been hit by injury.
Has been an excellent link with Josh charnley and a big assist to the amount he has been able to score.

The thing is Jim, I don't actually disagree with WF1985 and I do get the point Southern Softy was making but after a performance like that can we not just enjoy it without any negativity? We all know Gelling has things to work on but like I said, the rate at which he is improving is nothing short of phenomenol. If certain other players would have played like Gelling last night nothing would have been said about any negatives in my opinion. The sad truth is or actually the frightening truth is some more 'established' centres and I don't just mean at our club couldn't put a performance in like Gelling did last night, that is how good he could be.

Sarginson never a centre good enough for Wigan.

Could some one tell me why every fan in every club does not rate Goulding, and never in the recent years has he been considered for representative honours? He will disappear without trace at HULL. Parochialism is a strength and a weakness. This obsession with passing the ball to the winger is amateurish. Its a given ,but useless without power and or pace to create space. 40 years ago Keith Holden would have gone straight over him, never mind Neil Fox , Inga, Miles, and now Gelling. We now have Tomkins, Gelling. Thornley with the power Radders said we lacked in the WCC early this year. By the way ,and sad to say, Charnleys excellent 40 yard speed was easily eclipsed by K Fieldings 100 metre 10.2 near Olypic sprint times, and he was 2 stone heavier and a far better rugby player in his time at Salford. But we are ,unfortunately, now a minor semi pro sport despite being the best game to watch for many neutrals.
