In order to get a better atmosphere at the JJB, why not keep the bars open during the game like at Central Park, where you could drink and watch the game like at other RUGBY LEAGUE grounds. Why should we have to abide by football rules, just cos those hooligans can't handle their ale.

What a wonderful suggestion!
This can only improve the atmosphere in the JJB stadium, which, lets admit could do with a lift!!!
Might also attract a few more specys
Gets my vote.

I think it's local licensing regulations and rules from Wigan Metro. They are the ones who have to give approval for the stadium to be open, and it's only this year that people have been allowed to drink on the terraces. Complain to the council rather than the Stadium.

The big difference is the JJB is all seater and I for one don't want to be having to stand up-squeeze in, sit down, stand-up etc with a constant stream of people going past back to the bar trying to get past in front of me.pacman posted:

I agree totally with that. If people can't survive 40 minutes without a beer then I think we should be worried. Why pay £14 or whatever to go to a rugby match and then spend half of it walking to/from the bar? And more to the point, why should I let people wanting to get past to go to and from the bar spoil me trying to watch a rugby match I've paid £14 to see?The big difference is the JJB is all seater and I for one don't want to be having to stand up-squeeze in, sit down, stand-up etc with a constant stream of people going past back to the bar trying to get past in front of me.

Well it is only £9 behind the sticks where there is no bar. So think of that, saving £5 a match!! Whatever next, sshhing people who are singing so not to spoil your enjoyment of the game!!

Re: PIES N PINTS!!!
I can't see a problem with having the bars open. If people want a drink, they'll have a drink and those who don't...won't!
I am personally more concerned that the lager is about an extra 50p a pint in the South Stand than in the John Smiths Lounge...what is going on there!!!!
I know I've usually had a couple of drinks before the match...but not so many that I can suss out a con when I see one!

That's ridiculous, no-one I know complains about everyone, including me, singing.pacman posted:

But I can't see the point of pushing past lots of people, walking down lots of steps, buying poor quality, overpriced beer, back up the steps, pushing past the people again and probably missing at least 5 minutes of a game you've paid £14 or so to watch. Why don't you watch the game in the pub instead, you'd see the same amount of the game, plus you can get to the bar far more simply? And at least you would get good beer, instead of that disgusting dishwater they sell at the JJB.
I'll ignore the £9 comment, the amount of money isn't relevant at all. If it were £5 I'd still not want people pushing past me. I go to watch a game of rugby, not to have to watch someone's fat backside as they try to push past me every few minutes.

the bars are open in the east stand until just after half time - if this isn't enough time to drink then go to the pub!!!!!!!!!!!!!
