James Band

Post by ddtftf »

If you thought that the game was bad the James Band was even worse, dreadful, I don`t think he sang one note in tune. The RFL must have got him on a freebie because if they paid him they were robbed.

Don't know could barely hear him up near the back of the East Stand and it didn't seem as if anyone were taking much notice until he sung Sit Down, then a lot of the crowd around me were singing it themselves.

I was a pro act with CBS in America for 8 yrs. so I know if someone can sing & he is terrible. I love some of the new bands so it is not personal, he just cannot sing in tune.

CP I was lead singer with the Sportsmen, resident at Bolton Casino for 3 years and took Vince Hills place with the radio band Bob Miller. I was offered the chance to go to America with CBS as the Derrick James Duo, in the same stable with Freddie Star/ Little and Large/ Cliff Richard's/ PG Probe etc. I spent many happy years with Little & Large and Freddy Star in the same hotels doing the double with them and I am proud to call them friends. There is also a side that is not pleasant about some acts I admired before I met them. I opened the Fiesta Club in Stockton on Tees with Cliff Richards and that is where I met my wife who was the manageress. I will tell you the full story of Shirley Bassy one day CP.

Please stop posting things like this. completely pointless if you have nothing to contribute just still quiet

The band were terrible, to me its yet another indication of how low the RFL aim, why not try and get a popular act in?, a big act that some of the people who may be at their first rugby latch would know. James were never that big outside of "sit down" to the wider audience

Going against the grain but I thought they were superb. The pa system in the stadium did them no favours but the sound when watched back was no where near as bad as people make out. Tim wandering through the speccies shows the experience of someone who has managed to survive for 30 odd years singing " out of tune".
