Heritage Day is Coming Soon

Post by josie andrews »

Wigan Warriors are looking forward to welcoming fans to their 5th annual Heritage Day at the DW Stadium next Friday.

The Wigan Clubs will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 1965 Challenge Cup win ahead of the Super League clash with Castleford Tigers on 8th May.

Members of the side that beat Hunslet at Wembley will reunite on the pitch ahead of kick off while Rugby League Cares and the Museum of Wigan Life are set to bring some special historical items to display outside the stadium.

Look out for more details of which legends will be in attendance on the day and news of heritage activities across next week.

Over 13,000 tickets have already been sold for the game but you can still get yours via the DW Stadium Ticket Office, online click here and by calling 0871 66-33-552 (calls cost 10p per minute from a BT landline, other operators may vary).

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Hope the club recognise that it is the 70th anniversary of VE day and include some reference in their presentation.

Would it be too much to expect a street party like the one we had 70 yrs ago ??? :) :) :)
