Re: World class centre needed
WAKEFIELD TRINITY Wildcats head coach Brian Smith hopes to move swiftly to recruit new personnel after Dean Collis headed home to Australia and Jarrod Sammut took a step closer to the exit door.
Centre Collis has been a hit since joining from Cronulla Sharks at the end of 2011, scoring 26 tries in 54 games during his first three seasons at the club.
This year, he has scored just twice after injuries limited him to only another 11 appearances but it is “family reasons” why he asked for an immediate release from his contract with Super League’s bottom side.
Collis, 29, has not got a club in the NRL but Smith, the Australian coach who takes charge of Trinity for the first time against Salford Red Devils on Sunday, said: “I believe he has some family matters that have been pressing for quite some time.
“He’s hung on and hung on and eventually just needed to go.
“It’s not personal. Not with me. To be honest, I didn’t see him here.
“He was getting ready to go home when I arrived. It’s not to do with me or the club but whatever it is back home.”
Fellow Australian Sammut, meanwhile, could move to Whitehaven, Leigh or Workington in the coming days.

Whatever happened to Billy McGinty's pineapple?
Re: World class centre needed
didn't he play 6 or 7 last season so he will have scored more try's and made more tackles. I didn't realise he was selected for England don't remember him ever playing - Shenton played for England and Rayner doesn't make them great.
Now an experienced player and very much part of the furniture at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, the 2015 season will be Bridge’s eleventh as a Warrington wolf. Skilful offloading and aggression have become trademark attributes of the 30-year-old who also enjoyed a successful spell at stand-off midway through the 2014 campaign
this was taken from his wire profile didn't realise he was 30 - what will he offer the club something to bring on for the future no - something to help out our young centres with his experience no - reliable cover for injured players no as he is always injured himself. waste of time if you ask me
