He's a free agent now so no transfer fee is needed. The only money Salford want is £50,000 that they advanced to him personally.tommoore wrote:It looks like who ever signs him will have to pay a transfer fee to Salford and locke will be in a massive legal battle now

Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

Are Wakefield falling into free flow downturn.
How can they afford Brian Smith and now Locke without going into financial ruin.
It happened at Workington Town 1995/1996, ending up not being able to pay players wages who then left and the rest is history.
Sadly can see it happening at Wakey.

Wakefield have more problems in regard to the future of their ground than what they have on the playing side.

Re: Kevin locke for wigan
Are Wakefield financially sound, staff wages, ground rent/payments, are they on sound footing, because if not, brining in expenses such as Brian Smith, Kevin Locke and others on top of ground issues may spiral them into downfall.
The same happened at Workington Town in 1995, paying big wages to players like Roland Philips, James Pickering, Vincent Fawcett & Phil McKenzie etc.
In Wigan terms it is nothing, but to Town who were only averaging 1500 or so fans per home game it was a big outlay.
They stayed up in 1995, fifth off bottom but the following season couldn't keep up those inflated players wages and nearly went bust, ended up with those players leaving and emulating the club into free fall to which they have not fully recovered to this day.
Wakefield don't have the biggest of fan bases and generally seem to be struggling financially, and the point I'm trying to make is based on all this, is it wise to be bringing in "luxuries" such as Smith and Locke when you probably can't afford it.
I don't know Wakefield financial situation but it has been well documented in various media sources.
