Got a hot rumour from a source inside the club, or just something you heard down the pub? Then what are you waiting for, post it on The Rumour Mill.

Anywhere within driving distance of the DW Stadium or indeed the M62 corridor?

Any sane person would realise that it is down to the parents and not to technology.
I agree totally.

We live in a time where we blame anything except ourselves.

I know we have gone way off-topic, but it is like blaming the car industry for people driving too much.

Think both me and SC 74 are blaming the parents. Unless your blaming the kids for buying it themselves?

You are right. They kids can do both.

It also depends where you live. When I grew up in Hindley Green directly opposite the "Clay Hole" pond if anyone knows that, the pond wasn't surrounded by houses. It was all fields and fantastic for kids. We were out in summer running around playing "Army" and whatever until it went dark in the summer holidays. I also spent hours fishing when I got older.

There have not been the same opportunities for my kids who have grown up in Chester and there would not be if I was still living in Hindley Green given the housing developments in the area.

What I did do was take my eldest to the local rugby club (RU alas) and he was very lucky his secondary school was one of the few state schools to have a rowing club so he got plenty of physical activity outside school and home. He was also in the scouts.

However, just like me he is addicted to the "tech". And why not? It's the way of the modern world.

A few weeks ago he came home to play in the Sandbach RU sevens in a scratch team made up of his old Chester RU junior team mates. They lost 66-0 (twice!) but he was Captain. Why? Because he's the only one who has kept the rugby up post-18. He's studying Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at Aberystwyth Uni and in the RL team there. Physical activity and techy stuff are not mutually exclusive.

No wonder obesity is on the increase, especially in many young people now!
