England International Liam Farrell returns for Frantic Friday clash

Wigan Warriors host Castleford Tigers looking to win League Leaders shield

Warriors Academy face St Helens in Grand Final ahead of main game

Liam Farrell has returned to the Wigan squad ahead of the Frantic Friday game with Castleford Tigers.

The League Leaders shield will be decided on Friday evening with Wigan playing Castleford at the same time Leeds travel to Huddersfield. The top three sides all have a chance of taking the silverware.

England International Farrell will return after missing the last three games after picking up a knock in the famous ‘Piesmash’ victory at Warrington at the end of August.

Farrell’s return is a timely boost for Shaun Wane who also welcomes Dom Manfredi back with Ryan Hampshire and Anthony Gelling the duo to make way.

Speaking ahead of the game, Wane said: “It’s great to have Faz back, he’s been going really well for us this year and will add further competition for places.

“We’re looking healthy, we’ll double check a couple of players at the team run on Thursday but we should be good.”

Whilst the Warriors first team have a chance of the League Leaders shield, the Warriors Academy will also play in the Grand Final on Friday evening against St Helens, 5:15pm.

It promises to be a blockbuster night of Rugby League at the DW and Wane cannot wait.

“I’m going to make sure I’m at the stadium in plenty of time to watch the Academy guys! I’m sure plenty of Wigan fans will do the same, they’ve had another good year and hopefully they can finish it off in style on Friday night.”

Wigan Warriors 19-Man Squad

John Bateman, Matt Bowen, Joe Burgess, Josh Charnley, Tony Clubb, Dom Crosby, Connor Farrell, Liam Farrell, Ben Flower, Oliver Gildart, Dom Manfredi, Michael McIlorum, Lee Mossop, Sean O’Loughlin, Larne Patrick, Sam Powell, Matty Smith, Joel Tomkins, George Williams

Castleford Tigers 19-Man Squad

Referee - Phil Bentham

The Academy Grand Final will be a curtain-raiser for the First Team fixture. Match and season ticket holders will be allowed access to the DW Stadium from 5:00pm ahead of kick-off at 5:15pm

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Glad he's back we'll need him if last Friday's anything to go by.

Bowen selected after gifting Saints 12 of their 18 points.

Gelling dropped after a daft offload, he didn't cost us any points but out of the squad. That's after him being benched, played in the 2nd row where he hasn't played all season then moved to centre where, suprisingly, he was off the pace of the game.

So after lamenting of the lack of strike power at Saints we drop our only strike centre.
When Powell sees that 19 he could mix us a right bottle of trouble!

We'd better win this one, by crikey we had!

i doubt if Bowen had "Gifted" saints 12 of there 18 points he would be playing.

Gelling didnt look Fit, he might not be playing because he isnt in Shape to play.

im surprised Burgess is playing, he looked unfit and slow at saints and im sure i saw him pick up a knock early on to his foot.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Manfredi is back so Burgess might be struggling!!

He did cost us a try by coming out of the line and failing to make a tackle. He hasn't looked match-fit since he returned after injury.
