Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

How many would be saying it if he had been a member of their club's squad?

As someone who saw him stand out in a schoolboys county game at Central Park, just prior to signing for Leeds, I said to my mate, 'that lad will will go far' and I have been proved right.

A great captain and popular respected club man as shown by the atitude of his fellow Leeds players.
yet i bet 2 thirds of people that voted only voted for Rugby League and not for Kevin Sinfield the person
Maybe so but does not hide the fact he was the leader of a side that won the lot last season and that deserves some recognition and if we won the treble and SOL was not in SPOTY you would be the first to complain.

Its rather nice that the RL community can do this just shows how popular the game actually is.
Not really, the impression I get is that a well organised niche can achieve great things in SPOTY. The Irish Coach with the event being in Ireland is a classic example. Even tennis is not a huge sport but it has a fanatical niche of fans.

One question that IMO reared its head was Farah (IMO A clear winner) did he suffer racism? (Ennis is the acceptable 'coloured contender' + token female)

Farah was a genuine WORLD CLASS dominant repeat winner yet he did not even make the top 3. Froome double Tour De France winner nowhere. Peaty WORLD class. Rutherford repeat WORLD class.

Some of the female contestants had no right being there; Lucy Bronze. Nor did Sinfield whose an average talent individually (this is an individual award!) but a world class captain in a TEAM sport.

The whole event is a sham!

If rugby league players were earning Hamilton's money believe me they would be looking for ways to pay less tax.Just like we all do , on a smaller scale of course.
So your justifying all forms of tax evasion and illegal claimants on the DSS?

After all Hamilton got educated here on our taxes used our services and health care paid by us so are you justifying him not paying?
Far from it,tax EVASION is a crime,as are false claims on the DSS.When you fill in your tax return,I presume you claim tax relief on anything you are allowed to.That is tax AVOIDANCE and is quite legal.Unless of course you enjoy paying tax. However I don't think I was taking it quite as serious as yourself.

I agree meds, the same could be said of Ennis-Hill (Enniskillen) with athletics too.
THE bloke spoke well of rugby league which gets my vote for that reason alone and pleased it shows there is support out there for a supposed 2nd rate form of rugby.
It's about time rugby league promoted itself on the back of a successful tri-series against the Kiwis. I was today speaking to an ex colleague who is a staunch rugby union supporter, he is retired but officiates over refereeing performances throughout the UK. He is dissolusioned with rugby union and no longer follows it as a result of England performance in the union world cup and all the excuses being made by the rfu. Strike while the iron is hot but the RFL are so pathetic I have no confidence they could react to all this.

How was it a kick in the teeth for those who say he was overrated? All the prompting to vote for him I saw was all to do with it being a vote for RL not for Sinfield. I don't think anyone tried to persuade me to vote for him because he was a great RL player.

Quite rightly they had more sense because he's not been. A great clubman yes, but I have seen numerous far better players than him since I have been watching the game. That is what is so irksome.

The RL community was asked to back a player most people outside Leeds bar you pinged as not one to deserve the tag of "great". In fact last season despite Leeds success he didn't even have as good a season as he has had in the past himself. So since this was Sports Personality of the Year I am not sure his year was even close to deserving the title.

His teams was if you think the treble was up there with the Davis Cup team.

We have all seen better players over the years but the fact
remains that he has been a good player, great goalkicker and a oustanding leader of other players in a career of eighteen years.

Hate to think what opinions of him would be if he had played for Saints!

So great that at the start of the season he was dropped for a younger player

Do not fil a tax form.

But does even avoiding tax due to laws made by the rich for the rich really justify it. For me avoiding and evasion is the same. Just as bad as false claims.

Agreed its a sham how could a manager of a side who have gone to tournaments in the 1990-2000 get the award when a manager takes a nation to its first since 1958 and made top 10 in the world.

Whole event is a joke and needs dropping. Problem you are missing CP is that in sports where the nation has a massive audience British sides or individuals standards have flat lined. British football has 1 class player and he is Welsh.
