Powell to step up.
Re: Powell to step up.
Might be. Remember we are in SL not the NRL Meds.

He wasn't bad I'll grant you but he's been poor far more often to give me any confidence in him.cpwigan wrote:Totally agree re Lockers but I think Sam P did okay tonight Dave.
If there is a silver lining in the cloud that is MM's injury it is it reduces Wane's options. I always think that reducing Wane's options and forcing his hand makes for fewer bizarre and silly selections.
Last season we ended up with Bateman and Gildart at centre for this reason and that worked better than the two lunatics who currently occupy those slots.
Re: Powell to step up.
We look better with Powell on instead of Micky Mac tbh. Have done for a while.
Re: Powell to step up.
You watch a different game than me then. When MM goes off (on the 20 min mark, you can set your watch by it) you can guarantee the opposition get a roll on and usually score once if not twice before half time.Mike wrote:We look better with Powell on instead of Micky Mac tbh. Have done for a while.
We look well in control and then we don't.
Now granted this usually happens when Wane takes off the two starting props around the same time but given MM is the most ferocious defender I don't think it is coincidence.
Re: Powell to step up.
I just think Powell moves us around well in attack and we look a lot sharper going forward when he is on. He also is developing a running threat from acting half and often picks up, scoots and then passes. Maybe in defence we are worse, but based on Micky stats from last season and his number of appearances, I'm not sure this injury is as catastrpohic as it would have been 2 years ago.DaveO wrote:You watch a different game than me then. Well it looks like we will find out one way or the other.Mike wrote:

Something has to be done to plug the defensive gap MM leaves. We are too light in the middle without him.
One is not having Lockers as a prop as I mentioned in another thread.
When is Joel back? He's not flavour of the month for some but he can defend and reads the game a lot better than people give him credit for.

Powell along with Gelling, Tierney and Tautau had good games and one of the worse was Williams who again created nothing from the Stand Off position and threw out awlful passes which led to two length of the field tries by Brisbane. Not to mention near the end, hesitating with no result that the attack broke down.

Different game to Me too Not big enough or strong in the tackle always look weak in the middle with Powel although he had a decent game last night. But for meDaveO wrote:You watch a different game than me then. half backs and hooker are not good enough by a country mile. Had plenty of good possession in dangerous places but nobody with the spark to get players going Not got a game breaker or a spark we look a average SL side. Don't like knocking players or club But last nights showing was poor and shows English coaching and fitness is miles behind Ausies.
Re: Powell to step up.
We need a Shane Millard type of Hooker to come in and steady the ship
