Re: sky deal
Not heard anything but I hope we kick SKY out, purely and simply because it will frustrate all those 'loyal' armchair Warriors.
Anyway, is anyone else lighting a candle tonight and saying a prayer that latics get sent straight back down. Come on Millwall!Do you think they'll book Showaddywaddy for their relegation wake?

Re: sky deal
sure it said something in the latest rugby league world, bout bbc agreeing to the challenge cup rights?? not sure..
as for sky.. i dunno if it is for the good or what but i think we need TV coverage. every major sport has live games on tv, & granted it does take away the armchair fan from coming to games, but on thw whole tv is good for the sport!
if sky & the RFL don`t agree then fans in general are gonna suffer... cos i`m sure even if BBC picked up some kinda package they would only show 1 game a month or something like that..
were spoilt right now with 2 super league & 2 nrl matches a week..
i like where we are at right now.. hope that some kind of deal is sorted out!!

Re: sky deal
I hope the BBC DONT get the coverage becaue this will mean loosing more fans, anybody with a television has BBC 1+2 so i hope SKY keep the deal but have a mid week game aswell between the 'lessor' clubs
theres only 1 team in wigan
Re: sky deal
i agree with wolftown warrior we are spoilt with the amount of rugby league we have each weekend. Also i like to tape the games on sky and then i watch them when i get home from the game!!
O'loughlins number 1 fan!!
Re: sky deal
Unfortunately we are not in any position to survive without Sky money. We would have to go back to being a semi-professional sport, hey it may yet happen, and this would put the British game even further behind Australia. It is a joke that we can't even afford a World Cup. Is it any wonder Latics fans scoff at what I believe is the greatest game. We need a sugar daddy, just like Chelsea, but for the whole British game not just one club. Unfortunately that sugar daddy is unlikely to be Rupert Murdoch. The sooner a decent TV deal is done the better but I have a bad feeling about this. Even the Premiership/Sky deal has gone down!

Nice one Chris, Good to see you looking after your own interests on this one. Some of us whilst being 'loyal' supporters only get the chance to see our team on Sky, who in my opinion as a 'second rate armchair fan' offer far superior coverage than the BBC.Chris posted:

Re: sky deal
How is it in my interests? Surely it's in the interest of Wigan RLFC that as many armchair supporters & SKY heads get off their backsides and pay the entrance fee. If you can't go fair enough but you & I know that there is a vast army of Wigan RL 'fans' that live within close proximity to the ground yet prefer to watch the match in the pub. How does the club and suceed in getting the missing thousands back through the turnstiles. Lindsey is devoid of all ideas and his promotion of the club is laughable. My original suggestion was merely a tongue in cheek swipe at the missing thousands. Wigan is overwhelmingly a RED town yet for some reason I'd estimate over half of our 'support' doesn't go to the games or turns up for the odd glory fixture. Like it or not, SKY is partly to blame.
KEEPING WIGAN RED.
