I dnt know what you think out there but christmas just does not feel like christmas anymore, maybe its because our children have grown up and flown the nest ( even though we have a good spattering of grandkids )

Maybe its because we rarley get a white christmas these days ( probably due to natural climate change )

May be its because there are far to may johnny foreigners in the country who dnt believe in it

I dnt see anywhere near as many houses with trees and decorations in the windows, when i was a kid hundreds of years ago or so it feels these days , practically all houses had decorations

Just a thought , what do you people think

There is no anticipation for Christmas anymore IMO

The shops are full of Christmassy stuff three months prior to December

When we were young, we only got presents at Christmas & on you birthday, new clothes at Easter

Nowadays it's Christmas, birthdays & Easter all year round!

I watched a documentary in which it highlighted one of the issues of modern life is the internet issue.

In the past you had to wait for things, like the sales etc. The problem is with the internet everything is available all year round and that takes the magic out of a lot of things

Christmas childhood days died when my dad died at christmas back in '83 it was never the same,even now as daft as it seems certain things wont be done around the date he died,daft i know but there you go.

Even when my twins came along there wasnt the same feeling as when i was a kid its far too comercial even back then in the '90s and early 2000's now its like a circus.

This year my wife is working (gets her in good books for weekends off for away days at work),the kids are grown up so it'll be like any other day really.

I honestly believe that if you let it the miserable thoughts of social media regards the festive period with affect your own. The almost total loss of what Christmas is about (the birth of Jesus) even in its simplest form has been ridiculed to death, for me this is one of the main reasons Christmas can feel empty and im not a massively religious person my any stretch of the imagination.

My 3 year old is just starting to realise what happens at Christmas and thats great, but i have normally blocked out the negative hum bug rubbish that is thrown out there just to make you feel the same.

the warm weather and rain does not help you get into that festive mood though .... 12c today !!!

The internet issue is certainly an interesting point. If Amazon can deliver the next day then Santa's 24 days looks a lot less magical. Still, at least when you don't let him in he leaves presents under the tree and not in a bin round the back.

I think the 'magic' of Christmas goes with childhood. There's so much work involved once you get older and it becomes a stressful time.

I personally hate Christmas. I hate the idealistic and unrealistic portrayals of Christmas on TV shows and in movies that are impossible to live up to. The food is awful. The weather is almost always dull or wet making leaving the house during that weird week long limbo between Christmas and New Year unpleasant. And going shopping during that week is like hell on earth. Then there's always the fact that for many people Christmas brings about a sense of nostalgia and a time of reflection; which if you look hard enough probably makes you realise that you've achieved very little, have many dreams unfulfilled and the clock of life is quickly ticking down.
