Semi Squad

Joel & Farrel back, Field & Wells out of the 19.

John Bateman, Joe Burgess, Tony Clubb, Tom Davies, Liam Farrell, Anthony Gelling, Oliver Gildart, Willie Isa, Thomas Leuluai, Liam Marshall, Michael Mcilorum, Frank-Paul Nuuausala, Sean O’Loughlin, Sam Powell, Ryan Sutton, Taulima Tautai, Joel Tomkins, Sam Tomkins & George Williams

So one of Davies or Marshall will miss out (I'd play Davies against Vatuvei personally, but Wane may go for Marshall for his good record at Halliwell jones).

That means the only question is who else misses out. Has to be either Isa or one of the props I would guess. My choice would be Isa or Joel, coin-flip as to which. Salford have good dummy-half options, I wouldn't fancy a tiring Micky Mc against a fresh Brining or Lui after 20 mins personally, so Powell has to be in the 17.

Is Lui playing, then? I thought he was injured?

He's a doubt, but he hasn't been ruled out yet and I couldn't see there squad anywhere yet. Lui has been playing interchange hooker, rather than his usual and more effective Stand off - Carney has been playing there. I also rate Brining quite highly and Logan is having a very decent year, so whoever the two hookers are they'll go well. Unless they have to bring in that Wood kid, he's not up to grade yet for me.

I wish we'd kept Logan rather than Joel, personally, but I suspect that's a minority view.

Lui is in their 19, Brining isn't. Vatuvei & McCarthy are in too.

Agree with the last two posts.

But we need to play better in both defence and attack than we have been. On paper, we're a stronger side. We haven't been playing like that though.
Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.
