That's why things won't change at Wigan until Wane goes unfortunately
All of which is totally admirable & to be applauded in terms of the clubs conveyor belt of junior talent & commitment to them. However, its just not a realistic proposition if you want to be serial contenders. United still bring more top level academy players through than most premier league clubs but when they need to spend on players to win things they do,because everyone else does. Wigan obviously aren't United financially or globally but in SL/RL terms we most definitely should be considered the biggest name & biggest spenders around. I look at what Toronto are doing with almost envious eyes, they decimated league 1 as expected & no messing around go straight out to buy 8 new players to get them through next season. Make no mistake,Dave Taylor was good for Canberra last season & Ashton Sims will still be more than intimidating next year. Add Moi Moi to that & they will have some forward punch rolling through the championship. They've also added where needed with Josh McCrone,Tom Armstrong,Oli Krasniqi,Faifailoa,Westerman,Ackers & likely a few more yet. Possibly the most powerful club to emerge in RL for many a generation if the Toronto public continue to buy into it.

Gelz will be applying for residency in November when he comes back from leave.

He is already able to play for Ireland through his maternal grandfather!

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.

that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Exactly my thoughts. It’s great that we bring through some brilliant talent out of the academy but to compete with other teams, and to be a top team ourselves, you’ve still got to sign players who you think will improve the team as well.

From my earlier message I meant Hell bound????

I knew what you meant was just trying to keep up the ‘gell’ theme ????????

Leeds have a good number of lads in their team brought up through their academy but they also have not been afraid to spend when needed.

Second opportunity that we've missed out him and he can GOAL KICK!!!
Can’t believe we missed this opportunity & let wire steal him ???? I watched pretty much every NRL game on prem sports this season & he was a standout performer in a decidedly poor Rabbitohs team. Vossy,Sterlo,Gus & Fatty Vautin all made mention at various times when commentating on Souths, that he was way too good to be heading to Super League! & surely an NRL club could snap him up. I was already thinking at that point,”here’s a real bargain if Leigh get binned”,clearly others thought the same, just no one important at Wigan ????
Yes, this. As you rightly say, Goodwin was one of the few bright lights in a poor side this season for the Rabbitohs.

That's another decent player in another position we need...and signed by Leigh too, oh and Warrington now have a new assistant coach as well. Things must be fine and dandy as they are!!

Gabe Hamlin signed, two year deal.
Project player!
