Gildart New Contract

Great news that he's signed a new 3 year deal.

Now we need to use that second Marquee contract to get Bateman's signature on the dotted line

Good on him, Now we just need another 2 or 3 from Bateman but not on Marque, we need Marque for a top Aussie who isn't quite good enough for SOO and Internationals

The NRL move falls through and now he's staying, that extra money isn't going to buy his loyalty.
He's a talented lad but he needs to sort out the holes in his game.

Did anyone really think he’d sign for Saints? Never thought it fit a second, not the finished article but the club has shown him 3 more years get his rough edges sorted and he will be a hell of acentre.

I think the Saints thing was a little payback for the constant rumours of us signing Percival.

The main issue we have with Gildart is the issue we have with williams, in the past young players coming through had talent and could learn from seasoned players in the team the final polishing, but now the young raw players ARE the seasoned players so who are they meant to learn from.

A coach can never be expected to teach a centre the detail of the position if they've never played it themselves to a high level. They can coach 80% of it maybe but you need top quality players in your squad for others to learn from.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

Great news. Really enjoy watching an old fashioned centre. He could go onto great things with us over the next 3 years.
On Bateman, if I understand it, we have to let him go if an NRL club pays the stipulated fee, but otherwise he is still under contract with us? So maybe we won’t hear anything at all this year, with no news being good news.
Losing FPN, McIllorum and Sam should free up more room under the cap, while obviously giving us a marquee space. I would like to see a Robbie Farah type of clever NRLer coming over as our marquee player. That and Hardaker would do for me very nicely.
Finally, a good day’s work by the club. Good centres are hard to find, and his complete familiarity with the players around him through having played together for so long makes the whole even stronger than its parts.

This appears to be great news, but then again DaveO hasn't posted yet!
“Usually the fans that abuse players like Sam have never done anything of any note themselves. They’re nobodies, whose greatest claim to fame is abusing someone who has, and these so-called ‘Eddie the Experts’ pretend to their mates that they have."
