GET YOUR FLAGS OUT FOR THE LADS

Post by Brian Edgar »

Does anyone have any Wigan RL flags, Union jacks, St George crosses, Irish tricolours (Carney, Cassidy, O'Connor etc). If so, how's about meeting up before the first play off game (if we are at home) and I'll spread them out in the east stand for the benefit of the TV audience. I have that massive red & white Wigan RL flag with the red rose on it and a couple of other lads have agreed to get involved. Mike, are you 'big'Mike who runs the supporters club. If so, I know that you used to have a huge Wigan RL Union jack. If you don't want to sit in the east stand but have a flag, no bother, I can assure you that I'll return them after the game.
Come on, lets put on a bit of a visual display for the Armchair Warriors.

I have a St Georges Flag, but I will be reserving it for the South Stand....sorry!

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention that if anyone is looking for a bargain flag (rather than paying JJB prices)....Sports Soccer sell all different flags for around £3.
I don't know if you have a Sports Soccer at Wigan, but there is one at the Middlebrook Retail Park in Horwich.

I'll have a word with 100% Warrior and ask him to look in his cellar for a massive Union Flag that our dad has stashed somewhere. You never know....this could even jolly up the West Stand if your plan works Chris!!!!!!

I found 2 union jacks in our garage the other week, they must have been there ages but they're clean and ok and you are welcome to keep them cos they'll come in handy against the Aussies as well. Just let me know where to drop them off at the first play off game and it shall be done

Cheers Dorsey. I'll be stood at the corner of the East Stand/South Stand near the ticket office wearing a black track suit top. Is 5.15pm OK?
Ellie, if you could get hold of that massive Union Jack that would be great. We're up to something like 8 flags now so we should out-do the Wires who always like to put on something of a display themselves. We could ideally do with that huge shirt/flag that gets past down the East Stand before a game but I'm not sure who keeps hold of this.

I'd say keep 'em in the East Stand. For the last couple of years when the drums were in the South Stand you couldn't hear them properly in the rest of the stadium. I'm not sure if everyone else can hear them now they are in the middle of the stadium but it makes more sense to be more centralised. But I agree that it'll have to be noisy to drown out the Wires...

I'm a South Stand singer myself and would agree that the two singing sections need to unite. If they did unite then the upper half of the central block behind the sticks would be almost entirely made up of singers. I had the (mis) fortune of being in the west stand against Bradford when the atmosphere from both South & East stands was excellent. The sound from the East carries really well into the West. There is a reluctance from some of the East Standers to go in the South because of the high proportion of unruly kids who at some games this season have had no interest in the action and have prefered to throw crisp & pop around. The reason that I prefer to follow Wigan away rather than at home is simply because the singers unite and create a top atmosphere. I may be thinking a little bit ahead now but I can't wait to go to Leeds in the play offs because we'll out sing them again. As for the South Stand this weekend. For Gods sake get behind the team and don't let the Wire drown you out. They will bring 5,000 fans and treat it as their cup final.

I'll be singing in the South Stand, but I know what the East Stand people mean about the kids.

I am nearly four months pregnant and was hit twice by a stupid kid (who if I'd not been vomming all day would have been belted back), but the stewards were to busy throwing out the drummer (a real supporter) than sorting out this issue where the South Stand is left to babysit the dregs of society.

Anyway, I'll look for the flag tomorrow night after work and get back to you.

KEEP THE FLAGS COMING AND GET SINGING!!!!!!!!!!!

5.15 is fine Chris, I'll bring them with me no probs.
Was in the JJB near Tesco yesterday and noticed they are selling England flags 4' x 2.5' for £1.50 so they're pretty cheap at the mo
