Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

WIDNES ON THE VERGE OF ADMINISTRATION

Post by josie andrews »

Championship outfit Widnes Vikings have confirmed that after the collapse of a takeover bid, they are unable to pay their players and staff.

The club are also on the verge of falling into administration if they are unable to secure major investment by Monday.

Players and staff will meet tomorrow to discuss the significant cash-flow gap, which has the potential to send the club into liquidation if it’s unable to be resolved.

They’re a big club Widnes. Hope they get out of it!

Surely the RFL should step in and help like they did with Bradford many times

They are not a Yorkshire team!

Did make me think maybe Koucash steps in and relocates them to Liverpool for his new club.

The good doctor was interested in Widnes but couldn’t do a deal,as for Liverpool rugby club pie in the sky nonsense.

I do hope Widnes get out of this, truth is all club are seemingly reliant on a single benefactor, perhaps bar Leeds and Wire, this can happen to any club when the money gets cut off it’s frightening way to run a sport.
