Size and Speed

Post by acwrlfc »

Having just watched Saints dominate Salford what stood out for me was, apart from having a great hooker, there size and speed and they look light years ahead of us.

I know Lammy has concentrated a lot on field sessions this pre season but has been to the detrement of the overall fitness and shape of the players. Their young players like knowles and Lees have developed over the off season and they added some useful overseas players.

Our size has never really been addressed since the Sydney away game and for me that is frustrating.

Saints appeared to play the game at a constant fast forward pace that at the moment we can only dream of.

Also although a bitter rival how good is Roby and how he makes them tick. We can only dream

We have addressed the size issue but only in our juniors. Roby is a class act.

Fully agree. Roby was very good tonight, and Saints always looked to getting on the front foot. A good win against a not-at-all awful Salford I thought, they had a good spell in the first half of the second half, but the game was beyond them by them, and Saints defended well. I'd take the kicking game of either side in a heartbeat.

Disagree about speed, we have some of the quickest players in the league, sadly ineffictive game plans and a stand offish defence approach means having speed alone is pointless.

Roby is the last of a dying breed of hooker, i cant think of another hooker in SL who adds what he does.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Can't really say the size isn't being address, 3 of the new players are Bullock, Greenwood and Hardaker and they must all both be over 6 foot.

Not so in the NRL, though. I can't think of a 9 there I wouldn't have in a heartbeat.

Wakefield had plenty of both tonight, great performance.

I really rate McShane

lets face it no one has a worse 9 than us
