I think Wigan are going to have to think long and hard about him, great player but lets face it he is taking up cap space and has played a handful of games in 3 years.

That being said Johnny Lomax looked like a right off at one time with injuries but he seems to be over that now
I hate to say it but I agree. It’s such a shame as he was the best winger at the club until all his injuries. You have to face facts though and cut your losses.
We are lucky we’ve got two good wingers that can just slot in

Our two replacements are not the same class as Manfredi.

While i do understand why people think the club should cut its loses but i just think Lomax and saints. The fact that hes had 3 injuries already and still came back the player he was speaks volumes.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Yet they performed perfectly well last season

Okay then we should drop budgie on that basis?

Manfredi and Burgess are probably the best wingers in SL. Davis and Marshall are good wingers but they are not the same level.

Disagree

I didn't say Davis and Marshall where the same level though did I, I don't remember anybody complaining when they where scoring tries for fun last season

btw I'd take Makinson over Budgie any day of the week

Shockingly bad luck for Dom, however I would like to see him give it one more go as i think he is a cracking winger and still young enough to make a comeback. The club should stick with him.

Wigan Warriors coach Adrian Lam gives update on Jarrod Sammut injury

As Dom Manfredi's devastating setback was absorbed, Wigan coach Adrian Lam has been left to assess more concerns on the injury front.

Halfback Jarrod Sammut, who also suffered a knee problem in Friday's 38-28 loss at Castleford, faces a spell out of action.

He has suffered ligament damage and will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Forward Joe Greenwood also left the action early with a head knock and will miss Friday's trip to Wakefield. He will need to pass concussion protocols before he is allowed to return and will be assessed on a week-to-week basis.

Tom Davies would appear the obvious candidate to replace Manfredi on the right wing.

Jake Shorrocks could get a run at his preferred role at half-back in place of Sammut - though Sam Powell is nearing a return to fitness after an ankle injury.

Wigan Warriors coach Adrian Lam: "I overcame three knee reconstructions... I know Dom Manfredi can get through this"

When Adrian Lam says Dom Manfredi can recover from yet another serious knee injury, he speaks from personal experience.

The Warriors coach suffered THREE knee reconstructions during a stellar playing career with Sydney Roosters and then Wigan.

And so he not only knows the challenges Manfredi is facing, but the emotions and questions which will be swirling through his mind right now after being ruled out for the rest of this season with an ACL injury.

"I've had the same, I've had three reconstructions - two on one, one on the other - so emotionally I know how he's feeling," said Lam, speaking at the club's training base at Orrell.

"I remember suffering one here, at this ground, we were preparing for a Grand Final. I'd suffered the injury the previous week but though I'd be okay, and then it dislocated in training. And I remember sitting there, I didn't want to take my boots off, thinking it may be the last time.

"So I know how draining it is, the questions he'll ask. He'll be asking, 'Why me?' He may be thinking, 'I don't want to play any more'.

"We'll rally around him and make sure he's not thinking too far into the future.

"He's still pretty young, players have got over three, four of these injuries, and with the support of his team-mates and his club he can get through this."

Manfredi suffered the injury in Friday's 38-28 loss at Castleford - the same venue where he suffered the same injury, to the other knee, in 2016.

Lam said the injury was caused by an accidental clash of knees with an opponent attempting to tackle him. "The timing... he's a centimetre away from being okay," said Lam.

Manfredi was one of three players injured in the loss at the Tigers but the other two aren't serious.

Halfback Jarrod Sammut has suffered ligament damage and is expected to be sidelined for around a month.

And forward Joe Greenwood will miss Friday's trip to Wakefield after a head knock. He will need to pass concussion protocols before he is allowed to return.

Wigan Warriors' mounting injury list... and when the players may return

Adrian Lam was already without a clutch of senior players and three more were added to the injured list last weekend.
In addition, Gabe Hamlin is suspended for a doping violation.

Academy-product Joe Shorrocks is on stand-by to make his debut on Friday night at Wakefield - joining young forwards Ollie Partington, Liam Byrne, Liam Paisley and Morgan Smithies in the side.

But when are the senior players due to return? Here is an estimated timeline...

Hooker Sam Powell - This week (ankle)

Prop Ben Flower - This week or next (back)

Forward Sean O'Loughlin - Easter weekend, or just after (calf)

Forward Joe Greenwood - Easter weekend, hopefully (head knock)

Winger Liam Marshall - Easter weekend (knee)

Prop Tony Clubb - End of April (knee)

Halfback Jarrod Sammut - Mid-late May (knee)

Forward Liam Farrell - Late-June (pectoral)

Winger Dom Manfredi - Next season (knee)
