To go back to the original question, the first thing we need to do is accept that we are in a relegation fight. We need the real sense of jeopardy to focus minds. The second is to realise that we have to beat the Broncos at home at the start of May. That really is must win for us. We will get a terrible hiding on Friday but may be able to get something out of the following 2 games. It might even make sense to write off Friday and hold back players (assuming any can be held back) till Monday. We probably won’t but we would not kid ourselves that we are even in the same competition as Saints this year. All that matters is getting to 2020.

Our ability to finish above London is directly linked to our ability to field something like our full pack. If we have to continue with the pack from the last 2 games we are really at risk of London finishing above us.

Ironically, if we ever do get our full team out I think we would be a top half of the table team, and could even give the good teams a run for their money. Seems a long way off though.

Sadly we seem to be in a phase of managed decline. Next season we will be without several major players because of retirement and some contracts will be up. I would not blame our best contracted players for looking elsewhere as the quality of replacements being suggested is hardly exciting and we have no idea who the coach will be. I would like a club to be more vocal with at least a statement that we are looking to recruit top class players. This would go some way to maintaining expectations. If club sources cannot be positive then why should we bother? Our gates are down to the tune of hundreds of thousands of pounds per home game in tickets and other revenue streams. We seem to have lost our way. I wonder what has changed in so short a time?

I cannot understand why anyone can fail to understand that simple idea. If IL wants to throw money around we could deregister players whilst still paying them but that is different.
Two points in your post, firstly why should we get rid of Hamlin when we signed a serial offender in Hardaker?,and iL wanting to throw his money around?that will never happen.
because hamlin played for us at the time and hardaker didnt?...not hard really

Hardaker was a Wigan player when he got drunk, drove his car and got caught. So there is no difference, just double standards by the club.

He was still on his ban and wasn't a Wigan player until the ban ended

Why would the club state anything like that... its open to so much backlash. We'd sign on of the burgess brothers from the NRL and wigan fans would complains its the worst one.

People complained we resigned Tomkins due to his injuries but then also complained that he left after 2018.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Don't think we'll be relegated this season but next season will be very iffy, even if we do strengthen the squad and get a half decent coach.

Think IL needs a Maguire moment.
