Gildart
Re: Gildart
Some people may not agree but let him go then, we need a major rebuild and although i would love gildart to be a long term Wigan player is it worth fighting to keep him if a year later he wants to just run off to the NRL anyway.
Rebuild needed next year, let those that want to run off to the NRL go and use the money to build the team we need.
I hear Gelling is available

These are two reasons not to trust people.

With that attitude, what do we do about the next phase of youngsters that do the same?Caboosegg wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 11:17 am Some people may not agree but let him go then, we need a major rebuild and although i would love gildart to be a long term Wigan player is it worth fighting to keep him if a year later he wants to just run off to the NRL anyway.

Remove the rot and they try and develop a culture where players want to play for Wigan. This current group don't.nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 1:11 pmWith that attitude, what do we do about the next phase of youngsters that do the same?Caboosegg wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 11:17 am Some people may not agree but let him go then, we need a major rebuild and although i would love gildart to be a long term Wigan player is it worth fighting to keep him if a year later he wants to just run off to the NRL anyway.

In the press release Edwards said that players need to want to play for the shirt, so the club must be aware a lot don't.
Yes we will always lose players to the NRL but when you have the main part of your team openly saying they are basically just using wigan as a stepping stone.

Re: Gildart
Many of the players do not want to play for the club, many have left for the same reason and it will continue under IL with his penny pinching ways and lack of ambition.

It's becoming a big problem in my eyes. How do we keep players like Gildart, Sutton etc? Offer the marquee spot? Do they warrant marquee money?
Their market value in the NRL is greater than it is in Superleague. You can't blame the players for doing what's right for them, it's not a loyalty issue on the players behalf. Blame our salary cap!

Can’t see him getting much game time, he’s not going to oust either Crocker or Cotric unless they’re moving on.

Saints
Castleford.
They are doing okay in keeping players at the moment.

Re: Gildart
This has been around for some while that Gildart may move to the NRL.
If he's that sure and with 18 months on his contract perhaps this is why we're linked with Jake Bibby at Salford. He's listed as a centre wingman.
The club will have known his intentions all along. Perhaps they should tell Ollie that if they can find a replacement he can go end of this season. If the club can't then he'll have to see out his contract.

Re: Gildart
The players are always more than happy to sign new/extended contracts when it means more pay and more job security but as soon as they want to leave they kick up a fuss and start under performing.Wiganer Ted wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 3:42 pm This has been around for some while that Gildart may move to the NRL.
