Not all of the past players mentioned were without their critics at the time. Think of George Fairbairn in the late 80s/early 90s team, or Edwards or Greg in the 70s.
Another consideration is that a star can often only really shine with other decent players around him, and a coach who is able to get the best out of him. Watch George Williams' reputation when he settles in at Canberra.
Williams will be back like so many others as a failure.

Most glory seekers do it now, used to be much more exciting seeing them do it with the flags in play, Now that took real skill

If you touch the flag you’re in touch... therefore it’s harder to score a try.
Current rule is more fun, easy on the eye and leads to more tries. Old rule took a lot more skill.

Correct, If you can fend them on youtube Pat Richards scored a few beauties where he had millimeters to spare, Far more spectacular and exciting than anything Golden Boot comes up withnathan_rugby wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:47 pmIf you touch the flag you’re in touch... therefore it’s harder to score a try.

Re: Wigan Superstar players
harder but less skillful as you can only get in with strength if the defender has you, instead of beating a defender with flair.medlocke wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 10:00 pmCorrect, If you can fend them on youtube Pat Richards scored a few beauties where he had millimeters to spare, Far more spectacular and exciting than anything Golden Boot comes up withnathan_rugby wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:47 pmIf you touch the flag you’re in touch... therefore it’s harder to score a try.

Wow, Really, So it takes more skill to dive through the corner flag than it does to place the ball down without touching it , Can I have some of what you have been drinkingpedro wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 12:19 amharder but less skillful as you can only get in with strength if the defender has you, instead of beating a defender with flair.medlocke wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 10:00 pmCorrect, If you can fend them on youtube Pat Richards scored a few beauties where he had millimeters to spare, Far more spectacular and exciting than anything Golden Boot comes up withnathan_rugby wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:47 pm

Re: Wigan Superstar players
they only score like that when the defender has them covered. In the old days they would be in touch.....its not rocket science
