19-man squad vs Huddersfield
Adrian Lam names Wigan’s 19-man squad to face Huddersfield Giants.
Liam Byrne and Dan Sarginson drop out of the 19 as Zak Hardaker and Joe Greenwood return from injury.
Huddersfield Giants vs Wigan Warriors, Friday 21st June, John Smith’s Stadium, K.O. 7:45pm
Head Coach Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors 19-man squad to face Huddersfield Giants in the Betfred Super League on Friday at the John Smith’s Stadium (K.O. 7:45pm).
Last time the two Clubs met the Giants came out on top, winning 6-14 at the DW Stadium back in March. The two sides head into this Friday’s tie in differing form, with Wigan having won their last two in the competition, while Huddersfield have lost their last two games.
Injury news
Dan Sarginson fails to make the 19 this week with Head Coach Adrian Lam flagging up a number of slight injury concerns for the centre. Earlier this week he said: “He’s got a couple of niggly injuries; his shoulder, which he hurt early on in the game against Leeds.
“There’s also his back, his groin and his head. He’s one of the hardest workers in Super League and I imagine he sleeps well but his body is pretty sore so it might be a week that we don’t risk him.”
Ben Flower misses out for a second week in a row with a back injury picked up in Wigan’s win over Hull KR.
Two players return to the 19 this week following short spells on the sidelines. Zak Hardaker returns from a hamstring injury which saw him miss last week’s trip to Leeds. Joe Greenwood also returns, having not played since the Magic Weekend vs Warrington Wolves in May.
Tom Davies (ankle) and Dom Manfredi (knee) remain on the comeback trail from their long-term injuries.
Wigan Warriors 19-man squad to face Huddersfield Giants:
Joe Bullock, Joe Burgess, Tony Clubb, Morgan Escare, Liam Farrell, Oliver Gildart, Joe Greenwood, Chris Hankinson, Zak Hardaker, Willie Isa, Tommy Leuluai, Liam Marshall, Romain Navarrete, Sean O’Loughlin, Oliver Partington, Sam Powell, Jarrod Sammut, Morgan Smithies, George Williams.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: 19-man squad vs Huddersfield
Thank goodness Lam is keeping Hankinson in the squad and with Sarge out he stays at 3.
At least he acknowledged that Chris's goal kicking had a real bearing on our win at Leeds.
Another away game at Hudds this time but their main man of last season Brough has moved on. A good time to bring Sammut in.
Hopefully another improved performance can bring further two points.

Play as well as against Leeds, and we should be fine. 3 away wins from 3 would be 3 more than I expected. That Powell drop goal winner could be pivotal. Hardaker for Sarg and Greenwood for Isa?
No Tautai, interestingly. I wonder if He has played his last game for us?

Mr T not in again been dropped like he has with the ball all season
Re: 19-man squad vs Huddersfield
Lam has said he can't pick him until the clubs internal disciplinary procedures have been completed and that he will be told if he is available for selection.Exiled Wiganer wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 2:50 pm No Tautai, interestingly. I wonder if He has played his last game for us?

To be fair once T cut his hair Aslan-style he marginally improved! Sadly, unlike Aslan, he will not return.

Didn’t Aslan’s performances (especially metres per child carried) drop when he had his hair cut?
