After signing from Salford Red Devils, we pull together ten facts about Jackson Hastings.

23-year-old stand-off will join the Warriors in 2020 after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Hastings already knows Wigan Head Coach Adrian Lam through his son, Lachlan, as the pair played together at Sydney Roosters.

After signing a two-year contract with Wigan Warriors, starting from 2020, we take an in-depth look at half-back Jackson Hastings.

Hastings was born in Wollongong, New South Wales in 1996 and has an English descent through his grandmother.

He is the son Kevin Hastings, who played 239 games for Sydney Roosters between 1976 and 1987. The Kevin Hastings Stand, at the Sydney Football Stadium, which is the Roosters’ stadium, was named in his honour.

In 2013, Jackson played for the New South Wales Under-16s and Under-18s teams and was selected for the Australian Schoolboys.

In August 2013, the half-back signed for Sydney Roosters and followed in his father’s footseps as he made his debut against South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2014.

Hastings played with Adrian Lam’s son, Lachlan, in the Under-19s Sydney Roosters squad in 2016.

Lam will coach Hastings in 2020 after signing a new one-year contract extension as Wigan Head Coach.
In 2015, Hastings played for Australia’s Junior team and appeared for the New South Wales Under-20s team.

A year later, the stand-off signed a two-year contract at Manly Warringah Sea Eagles starting in 2017, as he scored a try on his debut against North Queensland Cowboys.

In July 2018, Hastings joined Super League having signed for Salford Red Devils. This season he has made 23 appearances, scoring six tries. His stand-out performances this year sees him sit second in the Man of Steel table, three points behind Warrington’s Blake Austin.

Jackson has become a leading example off the field in rugby league, becoming an ambassador for the Learning Disability Super League.

He has also shared his personal story with Super League for the Tackle the Tough Stuff campaign which highlights the most pressing issues in men’s mental health. ‏

On 8th July 2019, Wigan announced that the 23-year-old has signed a two-year deal, that will see him join the Club at the start of 2020.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
