thats a good thing coz bateman is better than lockers imoNo straw damn us wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 8:32 pm I think Smithies will win "rookie" of the year and will be a contender for "young player" of the year. I don't think he's ready for G.B. but could, and probably deserves to be in the England Knights squad.
I don't think he's an O'Loughlin but has a lot of John Bateman traits in him.

Bateman used Lockers for guidance & inspiration. That's the player he wanted to epitomise!Firestarter wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 9:30 pmthats a good thing coz bateman is better than lockers imoNo straw damn us wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 8:32 pm I think Smithies will win "rookie" of the year and will be a contender for "young player" of the year. Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Smithies is getting close though, just like to see him create more or break tackles and he will be the complete player.
The way he lead the Academy v Aus school boys was top class. His attitude, self belief and iron will really got to the Aussies.

Time for Lockers to step aside and let Smithies make 13 his own

It's pointless and wrong to compare players in this way. Lockers has been an all-time great for Wigan, whose name will be remembered with the likes of Jim Sullivan, Eric Ashton, Cec Mountford, Ellery Hanley.
I hope that, in 15 years time, we're adding Morgan Smithies to that long list of Wigan greats.
