I don't think he's an O'Loughlin but has a lot of John Bateman traits in him.
thats a good thing coz bateman is better than lockers imo

Bateman used Lockers for guidance & inspiration. That's the player he wanted to epitomise!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Smithies is getting close though, just like to see him create more or break tackles and he will be the complete player.

The way he lead the Academy v Aus school boys was top class. His attitude, self belief and iron will really got to the Aussies.

I suppose when Lockers does finally hang up his boots you'll be scratching about for a while for something to moan about.

It's pointless and wrong to compare players in this way. Lockers has been an all-time great for Wigan, whose name will be remembered with the likes of Jim Sullivan, Eric Ashton, Cec Mountford, Ellery Hanley.

I hope that, in 15 years time, we're adding Morgan Smithies to that long list of Wigan greats.
