Starting XII and Interchange

Post by Blackpool_Pie »

So how would you line us up, with a fully fit squad to choose from? I'm not asking how you think Lam will set us up. I'm asking how you would go about it.

Would Escare make your side?
What about Lockers?
How about the youngsters who were so impressive when the older heads were out?
What about the new guys?

Personally, if it were completely up to me, I'd go with this:

Hardaker
Marshall
Gildart
Hankinson
Manfreidi

French
Hastings

Partington
Powell
Bullock
Farrell
Isa
Smithies

Interchange:
Leuluai
Burgess
Greenwood
Bryne

1. French
2. Manfredi
3. Hardaker
4 Gildart
5. Marshall
6. Sammut
7. Hastings
8. Bullock
9. Powell
10. Burgess
11. Isa
12. Farrell
13. Smithies

14. Leuluai
15. Partington
16. Bryne
17. Greenwood

Personally I wasn't impressed with French's ability at SO when he covered there last season. Don't think Lam will use Sammut but, for me, he'd be a good partner for Hastings.

Hardakee for me best fullback in SL so why move him so this line up is pretty much who I’d pick but what possibly will happen is Tommy in the halves and French maybe on the wing?

I’m not doubting French’s quality but it still puzzles me as to why Wigan signed him in the first place,at the time there was need at other positions to be filled surely?

First thing I would go about is starting with X111 not X11.

1. Hardaker
2. Manfredi
3. Bibby
4. Gildart
5. Marshall
6. Hastings
7. Leuluai
8. Clubb
9. Powell
10. Burgess
11. Isa
12. Farrell
13. Smithies

14. Partington
15. Bullock
16. Greenwood
17. French

Tried to pick on last season's performances ignoring reputation.
Doubts are Bibby as I haven't seen enough of him but he impressed in play-off games, and Hankinson looks a trier but not Wigan standard. Bullock or Flower - I think Bullock edges it and should have some improvement in him. Greenwood hoping he's overcome injury and can regain his previous form.

nice topic, but with Manfredi I’d rather ease him in this year I know he had injury issues and as a professional sports team we shouldn’t have allowances to do this but if managed correctly and his up changes he can grow to be a GB winger at least for a few years. He is talent and worth keeping and being patient with.

As for Hardaker to centre for example I’m of the opinion that we need to keep Zak happy first and foremost he is a genuine quality character and keeping him on side will benefit Wigan for a few years to come

Smithies to captain

Hanley Bell Farrell OLoughlin... decades... 80s 90s 00s 10s... not many captains we should build a new era around this kid.

James Slevin
Ces Mountford
And the “kind of rugby player you’d want to be in your dreams” James Leytham
Should be in the Wigan Warriors Hall

Smithies to captain ??, don't talk daft.
The kid needs to concentrate on developing his game to its full potential. The last thing we need to do is give him added pressure. I have no doubt he will be a future captain, but not yet.
