Goulding went wing-centre IIRC. Not sure he ever fell out of favour, wasn't he injured? Good player though for sure.nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 8:09 am I always thought Darrell Goulding was very underrated. I saw him as a very solid and reliable centre. Great defence, could score tries but loved setting his wingers up. Never going to get mentions in the same sentence as Renouf, Carmont etc but I’d say he’s on par with Gildart, if not better overall, who seems to be one of our favoured centres in recent times.
Did he get moved from wing to centre or centre to wing?
Was it under Wane he fell out of favour?

Yes, seen a few 2000 games again recently, Peters with the ball has a bit of Bevan French about him (perhaps not as quick though)

Amos Roberts looked almost unstoppable in the period leading up to his injury.

That period where he was on fire was the best I’ve ever seen a Wigan player for a run of games. The booze hound wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 4:05 pm Amos Roberts looked almost unstoppable in the period leading up to his injury.

Re: Underrated/Left-Field Wigan Teams
some other names i would chuck in as under-rated
Sam Panapa - saw the WCC game from Anfield on a clip earlier this week. Steady as you go every week, and covered more than 1 position
George Carmont - when he signed i think everyone was very underwhelmed - how wrong we all were
Ged Byrne - visual technician - hard as nails and again utility value
Ian Potter - workhorse and would tackle anything
many of the props i have watched since i started in 82 could fall into that category - Brian Case, Ian Lucas, Paul Prescott, Andy Coley etc. They did a job for the team but were never going to grab the headlines. Similarly with the 2nd row ie Ian Potter as mentioned above, Ian Gildart, Phil Bailey, Harrison Hansen, Mick Cassidy. all grafters who gave their all for the team, and are missed when they arent there
