He had a great game yesterday, his game management was fantastic. His play with Jack wighton has been one of the best half back partnerships in the league, probably the best tactical kicker in the nrl. Could have done with him yesterday.

Needed more than George on yesterday's performance
Re: Changes Needed
When you think that George is keeping Sam Williams out of the team who was the player that they let Sezer go in favour of.Macward wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 5:03 pm morley pie eater wrote: ↑For all you NRL watchers who keep suggesting potential signings, what about that 7 at Canberra? Re: Changes Needed
After the disaster that was the Challenge Cup Semi-final perspective is needed
Without a doubt major changes will not happen. Radders will not move on and I doubt any movement to replace the interim coach Adrian Lam would have even been entertained prior to yesterday. For that reason, and the lack of possible candidates I cannot see Stephen Kearney (who would be my choice) or anyone else for that matter arriving soon
If I am disappointed in anything this season it is that Harry Smith has NOT benefited playing alongside Jackson Hastings. How is he to gain the experience he desperately needs if not?
If Hastings does leave then it means Smith would either have to play alongside a vastly under-performing and aged half-back in TL next season or even worse, attempt to sign someone else to guide and help him when he should be having that opportunity now with Hastings
We must persist with Smith at six with Tl interchanging with Powell at hooker
The French at full back "thing" also has to end. He's an out and out winger and he should inject himself from dummy half from that position (replacing the departing Joe Burgess in the team). Hardaker back to full back and Hankinson alongside Gildart. I'm not saying there will be massive improvements due to the poor coaching of Lam but the shape of the team would be better with players in their more "natural" positions.
As for forwards, we sign them and as soon as they arrive we effectively "kill" their careers. How many move on and look far better yet as soon as the trundle up at Wigan they're nothing but donkeys? I am sure Singleton will be the next in a very long line!!!!
It is coaching that is killing this team. The favouritism of selection for certain individuals who walk into the team no matter how long out or poor their form must end. If you are the team and playing well stop dropping them for individuals who do not merit this behaviour any longer

Because I don't "Boo"!!!
Yes I bloody know transfer fees do not count on the salary cap for those illiterates that need it explaining to them because they assume everyone is as thick as they are

Re: Changes Needed
Thank god someone sees the French at fullback thing for what it is a mistake,he barely tackles or defends but what he does have is out and out speed so much speed he could be a winger, who is picking the team French or Lam?
Players play where the coach tells them to not the other way round,Hardaker is wasted as a centre and for me is the best defensive fullback in the comp yet he tries his best while French carry’s on regardless at fullback, one of the shambolic decisions by Lam was to have Bibby trundling on the wing the other week while French faffes about with speed to burn, absolute madness.

Re: Changes Needed
The French at fullback "thing" being playing a fullback at fullback because his performances at fullback have been the best from a fullback since Tomkins. I can't understand how someone can look at our performances and think that one of our best performing players being played in his natural position is the issue. Particularly when he's been one of the best players in Super League in that position. He's currently Super League's leading try scorer.wall_of_voodoo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 6:32 pm The French at full back "thing" also has to end. Now I'm not saying French has to play fullback, but surely if he's going to be moved from that position it has to be into the halves, where he could get his hands on the ball more and support breaks down the middle, rather than having him make carries and scoots into contact all game.
It seems more likely that we'll be playing more wet weather rugby in the later part of this season - Autumn will probably bring the usual storms and wet weather like we got yesterday. With that in mind there's maybe an argument that we might not be able to play too expansive, French might not get his hands on the ball as much in good attacking positions, so try him in the halves, and have Hardaker at fullback where he might not be as threatening in attack but is a good solid defender. Wet weather rugby also wouldn't suit French on the wing as his carries into contact aren't his strength. Manfredi and Burgess are much better in that area.

but its people like you who would have had Martin Offiah at full back or stand off just because he's quick. Just because someone's strength is pace it doesn't mean they can play in multiple positions no matter how you want to dress it upWet weather rugby also wouldn't suit French on the wing as his carries into contact aren't his strength
btw Clint Gutherson is a fantastic example of why Parra wouldn't play French at full back ahead of him
