Players’ NWAA Charity shirts up for auction

Post by josie andrews »

Two batches of shirts in aid of our official charity partner for 2020 going live on eBay

Yellow alternative shirt in adult sizes sold out during the summer, making this your last chance to buy
Shirts are pre-signed, front and back

Fans who are keen to take the last chance to get their hands on this year’s highly sought-after yellow alternative shirt can now take the opportunity whilst also supporting the charitable partner recognised by the design, North West Air Ambulance Charity.

The shirt has proved to be one of the fastest-selling designs we’ve released in years, with adult sizes having sold out during the summer and the charity benefitting from a £5 donation from every sale.

With the season drawing to a close, the players’ match issue jerseys are now up for grabs, with all proceeds from a series of eBay auctions going direct to the worthy cause, which requires ongoing charitable support to save lives in a variety of challenging and dangerous circumstances on a daily basis.

A number of shirts from the current first team squad have already been kindly acquired by the players’ personal sponsors, but there are two groups of fantastic shirts to choose from in the coming days, including recently re-signed duo Bevan French and Jackson Hastings’ jerseys in the first round of auctions that are live now.

All of the shirts were personally issued to the players for their use this season and are therefore printed with the official Super League names and numbers on the reverse. The players have also signed their shirts on both the front and back, so that the lucky winning bidder can display it whichever way round they prefer.

A selection of 12 match issue and match worn shirts are live now and will remain available for bidding until this Sunday, 22nd November, with the auctions closing at staggered times between 6:10pm and 6:30pm. The first group includes (in squad number order):

1 Zak Hardaker
4 Oliver Gildart
6 Bevan French
9 Sam Powell
11 Willie Isa
12 Liam Farrell
16 Morgan Smithies
17 Oliver Partington
19 Joe Bullock
20 Liam Byrne
31 Jackson Hastings
38 Brad Singleton

They will be followed by a second group which will be available for bidding next week, including:

2 Liam Marshall
3 Chris Hankinson
10 George Burgess
13 Sean O’Loughlin
14 Ben Flower
15 Joe Greenwood
22 Mitch Clark
23 Jake Bibby
27 Jake Shorrocks
29 Jack Wells
32 Amir Bourouh
33 Joe Shorrocks

Please note that no further shirts will be available beyond these two rounds of auctions, so if you want to support the vital cause or simply want to make sure you don’t miss out on one of the popular yellow shirts, these are the final shirts on offer. If your favourite player isn’t listed, this will be because their official sponsor has already kindly offered to purchase the shirt or the player wasn’t issued with a yellow shirt at the start of the season.

Chris Andrews, corporate partnership officer at North West Air Ambulance Charity, is delighted at the success of this year’s partnership in spite of all the challenges that 2020 has presented and looks forward to ending the year on a high via the project proceeds of the auction.

He explained: “These auctions are the culmination of a year-long partnership between Wigan Warriors and North West Air Ambulance Charity.

“As with this season’s previous fundraising activities, the money raised from these shirts will help fund vital lifesaving care across the North West.

“Thank you so much to all at Wigan Warriors for arranging this, and thank you in advance to everyone for your generous bids.”

To place your bids on the first round of shirts, head to our Community Foundation’s official eBay page now, knowing that 100% of your donation will go to support North West Air Ambulance Charity’s vital rescue missions.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
