The way it’s picked promotes a good player in a poor team. We have a few worth the award, but not a stand out that’s better than the rest of the team put together.
I'm not sure it does. They can award all the points to one team, so you have to be the best player in the match, not just on your team to get top points.
Personally I think McShane didn't stand out at all this season, but I certainly didn't watch all castlefords games so I ha e to assume he was very consistent.

Well done and well deserved to Lammy and McShane.
A certain soon-to-be ex-President is currently making an even bigger fool of himself (if that's possible) by refusing to accept a result.
MoS is what it is. It's been decided. Good for McShane.
Yeh, it is what it is and a good comparison to peoples' reluctance to accept the result with Don Fart.
A win on Friday and all will be forgotten and I'm sure our two nominees would prefer that?

The point being made is that it’s easier to score points if you’re a big fish in a little pond. If you are a stand out player, influential etc it will be easier to gain points regularly.
That being said you have to perform consistently well in a poorer side.

I agree with you what few games I saw of Cas he didn’t stand out as he did say back in 2017 when I thought he was outstanding, this season like you say he must have been consistant for Cas

Genuine question.....
Has Sam Powell not been better than Paul McShane this season?
I think he seems to have been most influential out of the two.
We should be used to the ambiguity of the MoS awards, they changed the voting when Trent Barrett lost to a bench player!
And the Sean O’Loughlin fiasco who is the best player not even to have been nominated!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
