French and hastings
Re: French and hastings
How would it have helped Wigan if Hastings had come back over the last 2 weeks when the training ground was closed and everyone was self isolating, when he (and French) could train in all much better, safer surroundings and conditions at home in an Australian pre season summer ?
You also have to remember that whilst they are here in a Covid SL, they have no chance of going home and reuniting with family and friends for a period of 8 or 9 months - unlike any of their team mates, who do have that luxury.

Re: French and hastings
What has that got to do with anything?
Still doesn’t explain why they aren’t back yet despite training ground reopening on 19/02... what Lam said isn’t adding up.
Also doesn’t prove that Hastings hasn’t enforced his own extension.

Is there a concern on your part that he's not coming back ?nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:02 amWhat has that got to do with anything?

think the honest answer here is 2 of our players are bathing in sunshine in a country they call home in which they can meet with friends and enjoy food and drink out and about etc - the temptation for them to come back to bleak uk in the middle of a crippling lockdown until it is absolutely vital is probably quite slimnathan_rugby wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:02 amWhat has that got to do with anything?

lets face it our season is a joke so they could not turn up for the first 2 months and still as long as they were here for the 2nd half of the season make it count. If they are happy and healthy and fit which both seem to be and both are avid trainers i see no harm
a jackon hastings in a good place coming home a bit late for me is better for us than a jackon hastings angry at the club for bringing him back early

I'd say very fair points made WF.Wigan_forever1985 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 12:45 pmthink the honest answer here is 2 of our players are bathing in sunshine in a country they call home in which they can meet with friends and enjoy food and drink out and about etc - the temptation for them to come back to bleak uk in the middle of a crippling lockdown until it is absolutely vital is probably quite slimnathan_rugby wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:02 amWhat has that got to do with anything?

I seem to remember past stars, especially Hanley and Edwards, at times would go their own way and leave the club scratching their heads when they'd return, or even force changes to the Coach's plans. I think one actually went on strike for a period !!
It's not always so easy to manage these so called superstars.

Wouldn't say concern he is not coming back. But in Lam's interview he said they didn't come back earlier because of the training closure. That is fair enough, but the training ground re-opened on 19/02....So why are they not back?Nezza Faz wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 11:43 amIs there a concern on your part that he's not coming back ?nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:02 amWhat has that got to do with anything?

Best assumption from my opinion when you factor the above timeline is what Dan is saying, Hastings forced the clubs hand by saying he wasn't coming back yet.
