Why would you put Powell 13?

We already struggle to make yards as it is.
Because he’s a tackling machine, has a good pair of hands and a decent kicking game given he’s an ex halfback.

IMO he’d be a better 13 (more traditional) than a 9.

He might be an ex half back but the last thing he has is a good pair of hands. It’s one of the reasons he’s one of the worst no 9’s we’ve had at the club since the 1980’s. Every pass is telegraphed while he sets himself up to make it.

The opposition defence knows where the pass is going before he does.

Canberra and George Williams could be heading for court over contract dispute

Canberra Raiders and George Williams could be heading for court as the halfback has not yet signed the release from his Canberra playing contract.

The Sydney Morning Herald has confirmed Williams has in fact not signed the release and unless an agreement is reached the Raiders could have a law suit against them.

“No, George still hasn’t signed the release,” Raiders CEO Don Furner said.

“All I’ll say is we’re still working through everything at the moment.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Possible wranglings between George and Canberra could delay things, situation has annoyed Hodgson - maybe we could lure him here :)

One of the worst hookers picked by successive coaches and in the England knights set up....

Not saying he's the best but worst... nah.

Name be a worse hooker who has played for Wigan since 1980? The only one I can think of who might qualify is the one Noble signed from Bradford whose name escapes me.

Other than him we have had the likes of Kiss, McDermot, Hall, Riddel and Newton who are so much better than him it’s not funny especially given the state of Riddel’s knees.

As to the England Knights thing that’s really clutching at straws because you know very well even Wane won’t pick for him the full England squad because there are at least four better options available.

Wigan coaches pick the players they are given and now Wane is England coach he’s not picking him. If Wane had someone like Clarke on the books when at Wigan, Powell would not have had a look in.

Clutching at straws.

I didnt say there wasn't better hookers I said he's not as bad as you claim.

You can quote previous hookers from years past but looking at who is available realistically now he is good enough if he wasn't he would have been moved on like Thornley was surely?

Powell at hooker is not an issue for us and it hasn't been for years, he works in the system at wigan you might not like that system but it's in place.

Imagine trying to fit the quality of of players we had in 2010 or even 2012 under the cap now, you couldn't we got lucky.
