Why would you put Powell 13?

We already struggle to make yards as it is.
Because he’s a tackling machine, has a good pair of hands and a decent kicking game given he’s an ex halfback.

IMO he’d be a better 13 (more traditional) than a 9.

He might be an ex half back but the last thing he has is a good pair of hands. It’s one of the reasons he’s one of the worst no 9’s we’ve had at the club since the 1980’s. Every pass is telegraphed while he sets himself up to make it.

The opposition defence knows where the pass is going before he does.
Cannot refer to Powell as an ex-half back in my opinion as he hasn't really played their since his amateur days.

Just speculation on my part but could Williams wrangling over his contract with Canberra be bad news for Wigan ? Seems to me his preferred destination for next season was Warrington and we only came back in the equation when he was released immediately,if he were to win his dispute with the raiders and was paid up to the end of his contract would he decide to sit this season out and take the big bucks on offer from Warrington for next season ?

not a F*cking chance he sits out the season in a World Cup year..... Also not a chance he plays in the Championship.

Or, maybe the Raiders have released him from his contract but not de-registered him.
So they will hold his registration until a transfer fee is paid. Only when he's no longer a registered Canberra player can Wigan sign him.
Maybe, maybe not!

How long ago was that?

He’s played hooker for what 6-7 years straight now?

I know he used to play 7 but not enough in Wigan’s first team to refer to him as an ex half.

Sam Tomkins is an ex half...

I didnt say there wasn't better hookers I said he's not as bad as you claim.

You can quote previous hookers from years past but looking at who is available realistically now he is good enough if he wasn't he would have been moved on like Thornley was surely?

Powell at hooker is not an issue for us and it hasn't been for years, he works in the system at wigan you might not like that system but it's in place.

Imagine trying to fit the quality of of players we had in 2010 or even 2012 under the cap now, you couldn't we got lucky.
Works in a system? Or we adapted our system to not use any of his attack?

Look at the influence a player like Roby can have. McShane at Cas. Clarke when he won MOS at Cas.

Look how influential Smith was at Melbourne by doing the basics, controlling the play.
