The Demise Of Wigan Warriors....

Post by Bob the Builder »

What a great article filled with such truths about the demise of our great club.
I would suggest Lenegan, Lam, Radlinski and Co. have a read and then fall on their swords before it's too late.
I am completely speechless with what is happening at the club, but this article says it all, and says what supporters have been saying for a few years now.
But the club hasn't listened and hence that's why we are where we are and massive change is needed immediately.

Reads like a knee nerve reaction article.
But the fans becoming disinterested is true, but I argue the reason is obvious Lam isn't a good coach and has relied on French and Hasting with the Hasting Farrel attack combo last season, has lost French this season and Hastings and farrel get shut down every game now.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

That article sums up Wigan at the moment, even though it seems to read when we had Wane in charge people we getting disheartened. I think that is slightly unfair. Ok waneball wasn’t the most attractive style but one thing we never lacked is belief and heart.
Everything seems to have gone backwards since Lam came in. I don’t say we won the LLS with him because let’s be honest, last season was abit of a farce with the covid situation.
If Lam doesn’t go I’ve no I interest in this team. Don’t say that’s not a true fan, I’m just matching the owners ambition that’s all

Knee jerk reaction are you kidding. Never seen a more disjointed and clueless Wigan team and set up as long as I have watched Wigan and that's going on for 60 years . Players fell over themselves to play for Wigan now there fighting to keep away because of the way the club is being ran and coached we can't attract class players and losing players at a alarming rate all this as not happened overnight this has been seasons in the making I like your optimistic posts but surely you have seen unpresidented change I can only hope and pray change happens before it's to late. But don't think the powers that be seem to agree

The club in its current state doesn’t seem to be an appealing proposition for players.
You only need to go on any social media platform to see that it isn’t appealing to spectators. How can we expect it to be appealing to potential sponsors?
With reduced Sky funding and smaller attendances we need these more than ever.
“Usually the fans that abuse players like Sam have never done anything of any note themselves. They’re nobodies, whose greatest claim to fame is abusing someone who has, and these so-called ‘Eddie the Experts’ pretend to their mates that they have."

With respect mate, that isn’t a knee jerk piece,Matt Shaw doesn’t do them I’ve found,he has finally come out and said what most have been saying for the last couple,of years there’s is something very wrong at Wigan, perhaps if the local press could be as insightful and hard hitting as that maybe the club would awaken from this torpor it finds itself in.

I think it's very accurate and states the concerns and questions many of us have stated on here.

Surely if the club don't read this forum, this MEN article might raise certain questions......although surely the club can see what we can!

The article is spot on, fans have been fed up with the style of rugby being played for a long time. It's just got worse under Lam and discipline has become worse, we have never been too good on that side of things, but Isa in two games against Saints, has completely lost his head, deserves a big ban for last night's antics.
If the management of the club have no major plans to shake things up, we could become a Widnes or Bradford, a former great club, left to go to seed and become nobodies.
Lenegan and Radlinski need to change things quickly before this is allowed to happen, or get out and let someone else have a go, it quite frankly can't be any worse.

I think that’s a terrific article, very balanced and reasoned. The MEN writes superbly about the game.

But I think it over states the case - Widnes never got the 16k we got last night even with tons of reasons not to go, and we haven’t got Odsal as a millstone.

The single thing that would attract players is a coach that knows what he’s doing. If Holgate was in charge of this lot we will be much further on, on and off the pitch. The choice of next coach will be key.

Don’t forget the coaching team. We need a good experienced coaching team, not all ex players
