Tommy going round again surely is a last resort move by the club.
I'd imagine that it will only happen if we can't sign a half back b y next season.

He been a great player for the club one of our better overseas signings but sentiment doesn't come into it,we are desperate for creativity and if Tommy's going round again we're in trouble.He should have been hooker for the last two seasons anyhow.

though I absolutely understand the comments on Tommy and his age etc and am not disagreeing with anyone . . .

Tend to agree with this. Is it ideal - not at all, but we have lost/are losing so many leaders at the moment that we need someone with a voice and experience on the pitch. As MPE says, you wouldn't want to start from here, and I'm as critical as most supporters about where we are, but in some respects I give credit to Tommy for wanting to do it all again given that it looks like being another very, very tough season in 2022. I'd rather he played at 9 but if the Field & French rumours are true, who would play in the halves (not that I I have any confidence in either of them as a potential 6 and I'm discounting the 'new signing')!

Whilst I agree with you I can help the club have not simply misjudged the players heading towards retirement but almost buried their heads in the sand and that's unforgivable to me it's ot as if they do know players ages is it?

You are assuming that at his age he can actually pass on his experience or lead the team effectively. This was not much in evidence last season. enforce his injury. At his age he’s just not much of an asset.

I also don’t get the comment about how long it would take a new player to settle in and build an understanding with our players. We are going to have to sign a new half back sooner or later. It’s also no secret the club has been trying to sign one and we have the off season for a coach to err, coach the team to get this understanding going.

The problem is the club knew how long Hastings contract was for and knows how old Tommy is and has failed to plan for it. They should have had a new half back signed and announced already. It’s sheer incompetence they have not.

Don't always agree with you Dave, but on this point I think you have got it spot on.

Totally agree we should have had a halfback signed already. It’s not as if there’s not been any to sign. Fages, Austin, Loleah, and Sezer all changing clubs and we have not been linked to any of them. Same happened with Burgess we knew he was crocked but didn’t replace him either. Pretty obvious that we have no succession planning on anything. Instead we buy fullbacks when we already have one and sign Field and have no idea where to play him even if he had been fit.

Same on the coaching side I think it was pretty obvious that Lam would not be here next season, but again no announcement no doubt will take the easy option of promoting from within instead of looking for change.
