Position changes
Saw KPP listed as a centre and Smithies as prop Vs Newcastle. Did they actually play in these positions throughout the game? Still not seen the game

Re: Position changes
With Zak missing on Saturday, it'll be interesting to see what Matty Peet does with the centres. I'd imagine that he'll play Thornley for the whole game whilst giving KPP and Sam Halsall a half each. Having said that, I'm not certain which side of the pitch each player prefers so Thornley may only be given a half. I'm a big fan of Sam and think he could become a top centre with time whilst KPP could offer something different at centre if he's quick enough. Either way the team should be stronger if we don't have to use Faz or Willie to fill in at centre this season. If Sam and KPP can step up a level on last season it also gives us more flexibility if/when we have to use Zak at fullback.

I'd say for the first half for sure they did.Blackpool_Pie wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 10:06 am Saw KPP listed as a centre and Smithies as prop Vs Newcastle. Did they actually play in these positions throughout the game? Still not seen the game
Smithies went OK and KPP looked dangerous at times but its v a Championship team.
Re: Position changes
I can see Thornley Bibby at centre with Miski Marshall on the wings. Halsal showing signs he could develop into a very good SL player bit of size, pace and general skill set and what looks a determination to be the best he can.....
Must be safest pair of hands under the high ball we have. We may see KPP at a point at centre and I'm not opposed to trying him there.

How heavy is he? KPP doesn't look big enough to be a SR imo. I appreciate he's young and still growing but all the same........

Re: Position changes
KPP is 6ft 5” and weighs 100.9 kg which is bigger than any of our other second rowers.

100kg is quite light for someone who is 6'5".Green Machine wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:40 pm KPP is 6ft 5” and weighs 100.9 kg which is bigger than any of our other second rowers.
As I said though, he is young and will get bigger (and stronger).
Re: Position changes
KPP will put on muscle no doubt but he already seems to hit hard in the tackle and makes good yards from second row, obviously he has that offload in him as well. Junior Nsemba also seems to have natural size which is one area our back row has missed last few years.

Re: Position changes
One of the reasons we were shockingly dire last year was that we played/had to play people out of position. Centre is a very difficult position to master. We seem to have one player - Thornley - who is a specialist centre, with Hardaker having played there a lot (and often to a very high standard), and Bibby and Halsall who both seem to play centre/winger interchangeably. I don’t follow the logic of playing KPP there - but: the coaching staff see the players all day every day, and for all I know KPP has played a lot there, and we have a reserves competition for him to play there it see how it goes.
Many fans have drifted away from the club, and many of us that are left are unimpressed by what we have been served up, frankly, even in years we won things with Waneball. This “new era” has one chance to start with the sort of bang that made us sit up and notice when Madge took over. In the next month, we will play 3 games against opponents who beat us repeatedly last year. Many of us will be watching closely to see whether this team is worth our full attention. Given that, playing people out of position seems far too risky. Having said that, I would make an exception for pretty much anyone to be played out of position at hooker,
