Matt Peet has named his 21-player Wigan Warriors squad for Friday’s Betfred Super League game against Hull KR.
The Warriors make the trip to East Hull to take on Hull KR in their season opener of the 2022 Betfred Super League on Friday night.
Team News
Matt Peet has named a similar squad to the one that faced Warrington in pre-season two weeks ago. New signings Cade Cust, Kaide Ellis, Patrick Mago and Abbas Miski are all named in the 21-player squad to travel to Hull and could make their Super League debuts on Friday evening.
Zak Hardaker is also named amongst the squad following a return to full contact training, with Peet confirming that Ethan Havard is unavailable for the fixture.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Great squad for the first game, I've no idea how Peet will pick 4 to miss out on the team of 17.
I've picked 4, but I've changed my mind a few times.
Miski, KPP, ISA,, Partington.
Team of
Field, Marshall, Hardaker, Thorley, Bibby, Cust, Smith, Mago, Powell, Singleton, Bateman, Faz, Shorrocks.
Tommy, Smithies, Byrne, Ellis.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Smith missing out of the 17 all together.
He’s done well pre-season but he’s coming off the back of a big operation and a season which looked like it battered his confidence.
A game away at Hull KR to start the season is bound to be a bruising encounter and i think Peet will be looking to ease him in both from a recovery and confidence point of view.
He’s going to be needed this season so i trust Peet and the assistants to handle him in the right way.
