NRL clubs reportedly set to make huge offer for Wigan Warriors star
NRL clubs are reportedly circling a Wigan Warriors star.
That’s according to the Daily Telegraph which has revealed that a number of sides Down Under are hoping to bolster their squad with the addition of England internationals at the end of the season with the World Cup.
And, the paper has reported that Wigan’s Kai Pearce-Paul is attracting attention – the 21-year-old has just been picked in Shaun Wane’s 30-man England squad ahead of the World Cup at the end of the year.
The Daily Telegraph has revealed that at least two NRL clubs are thought to be watching Pearce-Paul, who has burst onto the scene in an incredible fashion.
“He’s very strong, has a great offload and he gives us something else,” Wane said after picking the 21-year-old in his England training squad.
As time has gone by he’s become a very good defender too and I can see him playing Test match rugby.
“That’s why he’s in there. If he keeps going the way he is, it’ll be hard not to pick him.”
It is thought that NRL sides are set to use the World Cup as a ‘shop window’ ahead of adding to their ranks for the 2023 season and beyond.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I wish the NRL clubs would just eff off & leave our young players alone!!
This from a sport who consistently say they have the best players in the world & our sport is third class compared to them
Bloody hate them keep cherry picking our players

Re: NRL clubs reportedly set to make huge offer for Wigan Warriors star
It’s very very annoying but we need to ask ourselves why it keeps happening?
1 - Wigan can / should hold players to their contract just like Leeds did for a long time and St Helens more recently
2 - Super League needs to ask the question why such players end up leaving and try to resolve the problem:
- more money
- higher level of competition
- more popular sport in the country
What we know is a factor but cannot do anything about it:
- better quality of life and/or wanting to experience something new
Thanks
Nathan

Trouble is far too often wigan have if not encouraged the NRL clubs then certainly not discouraged them either, that said can't stop them courting the players either but the club needs to look at Leeds and Saints and ask why they can keep hold of their young players and learn from it

100%!!!!!
Not sure how we can complete with the NRL though and hope he doesn’t get his head turned.
I’m fearful of rugby union teams in this country of poaching him also

This type of player is what brings crowds in to watch so don't cash in with NRL money then loose 3 times as much with loss of the crowd. The club moans of the lack of attendances so don't sell the quality players then moan about the attendance's

Yes, he a fantastic young player who is going to get better & better the more experience he gets & he will put bums on seats for many years. He truly needs a long term contract with monetary rewards rising yearly, but not a trivial rise it needs to be substantial enough to out bid whatever the Aussies will offer, leaving only the lifestyle as a temptation
