Super League board heading for change with Ken Davy’s future laid clear

Post by josie andrews »

There will be a number of changes in Super League this year and at the end of it, one major figure will stand down.

That man is Ken Davy, the Super League chairman, who took over as interim boss following Robert Elstone’s departure back in March 2021 and who believed he would have left the board at an earlier stage than he is doing.

There will also be a major restructure of the Super League board – and it will be heavily trimmed down.

There are currently directors from all 12 competing clubs, as well as Davy, who is in position as the interim chair following the departure of Robert Elstone from the organisation – this board will now be rotated with two officials from clubs at one time.

“The plan that’s being considered in relation to the revised articles is for a new Super League board consisting of two independent individuals and two representatives from the clubs who will rotate, Davy told Yorkshire Live at a media meeting today.

That’s a board of four and one of those independents will be the chair. There is now great emphasis on independent governance at every level of the game.”

It follows the exciting news that it just 200 days until the Rugby League World Cup kicks off with the promotion surrounding that fixture gaining considerable traction.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
