Re: Bill Ashurst
My boyhood favourite, too. Legend is an over used term these days, but I think it applies to Bill. I feel very privileged to have seen him in his pomp.

Before my time too, but I was only chatting to his son on Saturday, I know what a legend he is and was proud to have met him.

Just missed him - aside from the comeback game where he got sent off - but the Exiled family members who did thought the world of him. God rest his soul.

Agreed. A fantastic back row, anyone , Bilko?, got the statistics for him.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 12:58 amProbably one of the best back rows we have had - Ashurst, Robinson, Laughton.Forever Warrior wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 11:58 pm A truly exceptional player at a time when we didn’t have a great team. I'm trying to find that bizarre match when he came off the bench for Runcorn Highfield, whalloped Joe Lydon and got sent straight off....anyone remember that?
