Alex Walmsley: England and St Helens prop suffers major injury blow

Post by medlocke »

St Helens prop Alex Walmsley has been ruled out for the rest of 2022, meaning he will not play for England in the end of year World Cup.

The 32-year-old, who was named in the 2022 Super League Dream Team, sustained a foot injury in their 30-10 defeat to Wigan three weeks ago and left the DW Stadium in a brace.

Massive blow for Saints

Yes although I think his form has dipped this season.

Never mind, it'll add to the commentators repertoire of excuses when Saints lose.

I think so too. Alex is just a big push & thrust player without the skill that Faz has 😊
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Horrible to say this about any pro, but I don't see him lasting too much longer in the game. He seems to have legs made of biscuits lately

Who are England's main props, then? Tom Burgess? Oledzki?
