Defence conundrum
Defence conundrum
Why is it that Wigans defence one game is watertight and another game leaks like a sieve.?

Re: Defence conundrum
The question was re lack of consistent defence was it not or did I misread ?
Re: Defence conundrum
Powell’s defence wasn’t missed. O’Neil was second in the list of tackles made with 32 after Smithies on 46. O’Neil only missed one whereas the worst offender was Shorrocks on 30 tackles but missed 8.

you can, hes no micky mac thats for sure as its shown this year, imagine saying we missed willie isa, we are bang in trouble eh
Re: Defence conundrum
The point that I am making is that you can have basically the same personnel on the pitch 2 weeks running and the defence one week can be fantastic the following week woeful.

This is part of the issue with our turnover of players and not improving.pedro wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 6:55 pmyou can, hes no micky mac thats for sure as its shown this year, imagine saying we missed willie isa, we are bang in trouble ehkeptinthedarkfans wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 11:48 amSorry meds but you can't knock Powell on his defense.
Last year Isa couldn’t get into the 17 when fit for months…. Shorrocks this year went on loan to Leigh…
I appreciate they’ve both been “good” this year but you cannot have too many “good” players or Jack of all trades.
At second row we have gone backwards and have an imbalance in experience and ability.
