best thread/post on here since I have joined. He is a talent. Hope he stays with us for a few years. If he does, He will definitely be in my all time favourite player list. That is hard to do. Because of all the previous winning greats that we have had. my favourite player right now.nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 10:11 am What an absolutely immense player we have on our hands & still so young with potential to improve even more.
Tackling is second to none.
Gets through work in attack.
Mixing it up with some passes on to other forwards or out the back to a halfback's.
Think he deserves a lot more credit than he gets from some on here.

I have supported Wigan RL since the late 80s. First game was a cup tie v Barrow. Also a fan of football and Speedway. Have a varied taste in music.

Fine player and he will only get better,i love his aggression.
Re: Smithies
Smithies is a class act and he’s getting better and better he’s slowly turning into a traditional 13, his link up passes that he’s throwing when he’s at the line and committed players are starting to look Lockers esque, wonder if that’s down to coaching from Lockers? Genuine question for those in the know?

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Smithies
Back on topic, Smithies to me is one of our greatest assets. Not only his defensive abilities but his link up game us coming on leaps and bounds. I'd say he could well be future captain material.
Re: Smithies
Don't think its a coincidence that his link up play, and passing the ball at the line has improved, seeing as we have the best at those skills for the past 20 years on the coaching team.Wes wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 7:47 pm Smithies is a class act and he’s getting better and better he’s slowly turning into a traditional 13, his link up passes that he’s throwing when he’s at the line and committed players are starting to look Lockers esque, wonder if that’s down to coaching from Lockers?
