Sam Burgess takes over at Wolves

According to NRL360 in Australia, Burgess is destined to be a top coach and they predicted he will come back to the NRL as a head coach and win a premiership title, so he is held in really high regard with the aussies, so I wouldnt write him off just yet.

Absolutely not trying to pick an argument but can I asked what you're basing that on? He always came across as a standard rl player personality wise going off interviews etc

Drug driving (charged)

While he has got away with it at the time.it was reported it was very obvious that the club has protected him and brushed alot under the carpet.

He has been cleared of.the first two obviously as he's not in jail but as neither the father in law or wife are in jail for perverting the course of justice it would suggest there was some truth in it all.

It's sport, Mike; we can pick and choose who we 'like', or 'dislike'. Lots of people here, for example seem to dislike Jonny Lomax. Bogeymen and heroes are all part of it.

That's what I meant exactly. Those things make me dislike him too, but I never saw anything before those things to make me dislike him like Caboosegg mentioned

I don't think Lomax is disliked so much is he? I dislike Welsby but thats down to how the media overhype him and the way he acts on the pitch.

As I said, I'd never really seen much of SB's personality to be unlikeable from interviews and his conduct on the pitch. I saw him as a tough player who put himself about but not a lot more before all the stuff came out about him

Martin Gleeson re-joins Warrington Wolves to coach attack

WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed the addition of former player Martin Gleeson to their coaching staff.

Earlier this week, the Warrington Guardian reported Gleeson, who made 117 appearances for the club between 2004 and 2009, was set to be brought in for the remainder of the year to support interim head coach Gary Chambers and assistant Richard Marshall.

In confirming the news, The Wire describe Gleeson’s position as “an advisory role” as he focuses on the team’s work in attack.

Warrington also affirmed Gleeson would not be part of Sam Burgess’ coaching staff in 2024 as he has already agreed to take up a position overseas.

“I’m happy to come back to the club and help in any way I can to support the team tactically for the rest of the season,” he said.

“Me and Chambo [Gary Chambers] go back a long way and I’ve got a lot of friends at the club.

“There’s a really good team at Warrington that’s probably just down on a bit of confidence at the moment. I want to help get them back playing to their potential.”

The 43-year-old has carved out a promising coaching reputation for his work as a specialist attack coach in rugby union with Wasps and the England national side.

Before moving into the 15-man code, he was an assistant coach at Salford Red Devils, where his playing career ended in 2014 after spells with Hull FC, Wigan Warriors and St Helens either side of his spell at Warrington.

“As a club, it’s important to have someone to call on like Martin.” Chambers said.

“His expertise and knowledge will prove invaluable over the coming weeks in supporting the team to ensure that we finish the season as strong as possible.”
