I don't think there's been a problem with "standards" this season. 12 teams seems fine right now. Fix long term standards by forcing all teams to run a full academy and therell be enough players
10th placed Hull FC are14 points from 1st place
11th Placed Cas are 10 points from 10th
even if you put the points Cas and Wakey have earnt together they would still be bottom of the league
to me superleague has enough talent to support 10 good teams
League position don't tell the whole story though, Hull are a better team than there position but it just hasn't clicked.
Cas had the wrong coach
Look at Wire on paper they had a good squad but Powell just couldn't make it work.
you could say that Hull are always a better team than their position as it never clicks. they seem to make big signings, and are perennial underachievers.
Wire have probably spent more money on players and coaches that any other team in the league, and they still havent won it. Wire won 8 out of 8, so something was working, then they played Wigan
. I think the wire issue was the way they treated McGuire, and i reckon from that point a lot of trust between players and staff had gone
Look at the successful clubs (Wigan, Saints & Leeds), and all 3 have produced massive amounts of home grown talent over the years, and i'm pretty sure there is no coincidence thats been a big reason for the success. Hull used to have a successful academy many years ago, but that is well gone. For me this needs to be one of the biggest priorities for all top league clubs Absolutely need to have reserve team and min of 2 acadamy teams (depending upon what age is agreed on)
