Super League Round 24: Albert Goldthorpe Medal Points
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

How George Williams is in the lead after missing several games is beyond me!

True. I often wonder who selects the players.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 12:38 pmSome players play in every game and get no points.josie andrews wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 11:35 am How George Williams is in the lead after missing several games is beyond me!

its not difficult from him to stand out in the Wire team though is it . he has virtually nil / nada competition as they've been so poor after the start of the season, hence the odd ball winners every few years, who no-one would contemplate as Man of Steel contendersjosie andrews wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 1:15 pmTrue. if you take the Wigan team on a weekly basis it is likely that Field, Miski, Marshall, French are all in contention before a ball has been kicked. Saints, Welsby, Percival, Makinson, Lomax, Dodd, Walmsley, so unlikely that a Wigan or Saints player would pick it up
playing devils advocate here too, many on here are complaining that French isnt a 6 as long as they've got a hole in their a****, but he's currently running 2nd. Does that mean we have no idea what we are talking about on here or that he's actually doing a half decent job at 6 or the panel dont have a clue??

Its a mess.Liam farrell was the best player on the pitch and wasnt in the top three and byrne got mom and wasnt either. The system stinks( just ask trent barrett) although it was done differently then, so called

Re: Super League Round 24: Albert Goldthorpe Medal Points
thats the initial part of the problem in that we all see a game / players performances differently, and no doubt that could be impacted from where we watch the game in a ground as you see many different things from up high v at pitch level, in the East / West v North or SouthFirestarter wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:46 am Its a mess.Liam farrell was the best player on the pitch and wasnt in the top three and byrne got mom and wasnt either. The system stinks( just ask trent barrett) although it was done differently then, so called
So you would think a panel of experts, would be able to see a game something like fans who can see when player X is by far the best player on the pitch. I'm assuming the panel watch every game back on TV, so at least they have a consistent view
players like Byrne arent fashionable and even though he may be dominant on the pitch, he doesnt skittle defenders like Walmsley does, but probably far more effective defensively. So, whilst the match sponsors saw him fit to be MoM, the panel poss dont feel he did enough and thus French, creating 2 tries and controlling the game (their words) is probably seen more worthy for the points
i personally dont know the answer and as we all know, its far easier for someone playing well in a poor team to stand out than someone in one of the better teams
